Is the server jacked up lately?

I haven't had problems on other sites, but have had a lot of problems loading threads lately, maybe the past week or so. It just loads and loads... if I hit stop and then refresh several times in a row, the thread will pop up eventually. But if I just wait, it seems to hang up until it times out. Not all the time, but more often than not.

I have fewer problems with the main forum pages, until I click on a thread. Then it goes into suckiness.

As I type this, things are actually running smoothly. But it's been terrible the past several days, including a half hour ago or so.

I have that similar problem too. When I click on a thread it loads and loads just hanging, until I hit refresh then the topic opens. It doesn't happen on every thread I click. Some open without me hitting refresh.

It's been like that for a little over a month now.

So far it seems quick today. I think it was mgbfan's long thread slowing things down.

Forum speed is good, but the issue is still there for me. At random times clicking on a topic it won't load and hangs, then hitting refresh the topic finally opens up.

Re: Is the server jacked up lately?

Yeah I've had it for about a week or week and a half now. Especially when Quick Replying. I will post and nothing happens... I have to copy out what I typed, reload the page (sometimes even relaunch the browser) and then paste it in.

(Had to do it to make this post)

Still happens to me all the time. Using Google Chrome.

It's been happening for a little while now. I have trouble accessing it at night 11 pm - 1 am EST and I can't imagine that's a high volume time for visitors.

Happens to me on a PC with Firefox 10, and on my Mac with firefox. I thought I've seen it on Safari as well but I'll switch to IE on my pc and safari on the mac to see if I notice it there. So far I can only confirm Firefox on both systems.

Was the site down entirely earlier tonight?

I get this problem a lot at home, but never at work. I wonder if it is a routing problem.

I've been getting this quite often lately on Firefox 10 on a PC. Takes a long time to load. Sometimes it times out, other times it just takes forever.

This has been happening to me for a week or so. Multiple PCs, updated versions of IE and FF.

I've seen no problems here.

If you have Safari handy, you could watch the activity window to see if it's an ad server that's holding things up. (Not sure what the equivalent window would be in other browsers or it exists).

Re: Is the server jacked up lately?

It was really bad last night and this morning. I've had to stop and reload three or four times to see a thread. The hold-up seems to be the advertisements at the top of the page. Sometimes I get the banner, but not the ads, and then it stops.

It was absolutely horrible for me for about 12 days, then has been perfect for about a week now. I did nothing different and changed no settings.

Still got the refresh/loading issues here.

Anyone else?

I spoke too soon. Things are crappy again today. I'll probably have to resend/refresh this 5 times to get it to post.

It has been a little temperamental for me. Not horrible but I just need to give it a few extra seconds for the page to load.

Loading is pretty sporadic for me, but that's nothing new. This site is easily the most temperamental of all the ones I visit. There was another thread for that a while back.

It's been giving me busy signals a lot the past few weeks. Or not loading at all.

Problems here as well. Thought of was just my slow Sprint connection and lack of a mobile site.

The server was down for a while last night for maintenance. Certainly let us know if you're still having issues.

Is the TV forum loading slowly for anyone else on their phone? The rest of the forums load fine, it's just the TV forum that is really slow.

I'm having a problem where the forum software apparently thinks the next to last page of a thread is actually the last page, so I can never see the last page of posts on multi-page threads. Happens in both Firefox and IE.

Is this with every multi-page thread, or just a few?

Because there are always a few threads like this, when a thread with a 2nd/3rd/whatever page with one post on that page has a post deleted anywhere in the thread.

Go to your user options and change the number of posts per page to 30 or 40. You should be able to go back and see the page.

Site is just hanging and hanging for me on Firefox, "waiting for amch.questionmarket.com". I can post this from my phone but I'm giving up on the browser.

Wondering if the issue has been fixed cause it's been smooth sailing for many days now. Or could it be that Firefox 12 did the job? No more refreshing for now *crossing fingers lol*

Yeah, I've been having problems all day (Firefox 12). Getting a server connection reset page frequently.

I hadn't had any of the previous problems that were going on in this thread. This is a new one for me and started today.

Re: Is the server jacked up lately?

So far there have 4 separate instances this evening where I've tried to come here and been greeted by a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message and a prompt to "Diagnose Connection Problems". If I opt to "Diagnose Connection Problems", Windows spends some time checking connectivity, then comes back with a message that the internet connection was fine over HTTP and HTTPS, but it was not able to make a successful connection over FTP, that a firewall client running on my machine might be blocking the necessary FTP ports. I don't run a software firewall, only the hardware firewall in my router. If I refresh the page the site comes in just fine. This on XP, SP3, IE8, all updates, ATT U-Verse, 6mb connection speed. -kd5-
