This is nuts. It took 10 seconds for the site to come up, it's taking 7 or 8 seconds for each page to load, 10 seconds+ for a post to make it. I don't get why it's taking so long to figure out what's causing the problem, this has been going on for well over a month. -kd5-

A month? Try 4-6 months.

Like I said earlier, I hope that tech isn't working on the same schedule to fix this awful issue that tech is working on to bring us a decent mobile option.

It's still incredibly slow for me, but I just though I'd post something positive about the problem.

I tried to switch over to Movie Talk, but my mouse inched forward an extra bit and I accidentally clicked on Book Talk. Thankfully, the time it takes to load another forum is so slow that I was able to make the correction before it opened.

Re: Forums Slow Loading Lately?

The last little while, the forum, if it loaded at all, often took an hour before anything happened. It just kept telling me that the servers were busy. This has never happened, if I recall correctly, in all the years I've been a member here. I tried on both Chrome (which I hate to use) and Firefox, with the same result for both. Right now, when I'm typing this, it seems to only take a few seconds for things to load. Hope it stays working. For the longest time, I could read the forum, but if I tried to log in, it told me that I was logged in, but the forum would never load. Then, it took an hour for anything to load. This is all strange.

After all these months, it's almost like nobody thinks it's that much of an issue. I mean it shouldn't be some incredible mystery to figure out what's going on if you have even a halfway competent IT team. I get the feeling that since it just hasn't completely crashed, that it's not that big an issue. It has been 5 months since this issue's been reported and we've been complaining.

It's horrible today. Worst loading times ever. What's going on?

The last 2 days have been fine for me. I don't know what's going on. There was more than a month that I couldn't log in. The forum just wouldn't load.

The forum has something in common with one of my favorite cookies today:

Submitting a post is unbearable. (Dreading the minute it takes for this post to go through after I hit Post Quick Reply)

I really hope so. It absolutely sucks today. Timeouts, lagging... at this point it's just ridiculous.

Re: Forums Slow Loading Lately?

The problems over the last couple weeks are being caused by element(s) from "optimize.indieclick.com". For some reason the delay caused by those seems to hit Chrome particularly hard.

You can fix it by blocking all requests on your computer to "optimize.indieclick.com" with your firewall, ad blocker, hosts file, or similar. If you have successfully blocked it, when you try to visit this link: http://optimize.indieclick.com/ you'll get an error that says something like "Can't connect to server" or something like that. If you have NOT successfully blocked it, you'll see a message "403 Access Denied"

Once I blocked indieclick successfully, page loading was back to normal.

optimize.indieclick.com is a trainwreck to be sure, but the problems extend way beyond that. I mean, CSS files, images, and the review management tools don't load reliably either, and those aren't hitting any other servers. Things have still been excruciatingly slow for me even after blocking that server.

We're going to block IndieClick from running for people that are using Google Chrome.

Let me know if this is a problem for other browsers.

I'm using Firefox and today the average page load is around 30-60 seconds. A few times it has hung up and went minutes trying to load and I had to just cancel it out and start over.

Good lord...

After blocking indieclick on your end, Chrome is functioning a little better. It's about at Firefox levels now, i.e. barely usable. I suppose I should cheer this small improvement.

I only use IE to browse this site. Suck it hipster Chrome users.

It seems whatever small improvement I saw was only temporary. About a quarter of threads today are timing out before they can load in Chrome. Back to Firefox I guess.
