I don't like the added links in my posts

If I want to link to something, I would prefer to do it myself.

Is this going to continue?

I would hate to have people thinking I was promoting these rotten products myself.

Re: I don't like the added links in my posts

What exactly are you referring to?

Mrs. Danger 04-08-11 09:34 AM

Just checking something...

Children, parents, oil of olay, posting, website, advertising.

How many annoying pop ups are in this post? Are we going to have another case of not being able to move the cursor randomly over the page without being interrupted by a silly ad for something annoying?

Rats and cats and bats and stinky piles of poo.

Mrs. Danger 04-08-11 09:36 AM

Re: Just checking something...

Hm. Interesting. Every time I come back to this thread, different words are highlighted.

Well, just so you know, I'm not getting compensated by ANY of these people to push their products.

covenant 04-08-11 09:39 AM

Re: Just checking something...

adblock

Dan 04-08-11 09:42 AM

Re: I don't like the added links in my posts

Contextual advertising, I'm sure. There's another thread around here somewhere.

I haven't seen the ads for quite some time, myself.

Mrs. Danger 04-08-11 09:43 AM

Re: Just checking something...

And, before anyone tells me to, I have started a thread in the feedback forum.

I'm just annoyed by my post being mucked with.

parent, police, story, show, cable, tv, video, performance, DVD, blu-ray, software, movie, HDTV, weight loss, diet, enlarge your penis.

AAAAAAAAAAGH!

Mrs. Danger 04-08-11 09:45 AM

Re: Just checking something...

covenant, that linked to something... but it wasn't adblock.

I don't see any of what you are describing. Ah, the bliss of using a Mac. :) I don't know how you people deal with all of the hassles of Windows.

What an odd statement, it's not a Windows or Mac thing.

Not even slightly.

Windows here and I have no idea what she is seeing, because I am not. I am also not running adblock.

Yeah, I'm on a Windows computer and don't see any link highlighting. Nice try though.

I'll run another check on my computer, but DVD talk is the only forum I'm seeing this on.

If you roll over them with your cursor, ads pop up. They usually have nothing to do with the word.

Re: I don't like the added links in my posts

It's a crazy suggestion, and probably won't work, but:
- Erase the cache in your browser (and cookies, if you want)
- Go directly to forum.dvdtalk.com, not via Google search.

When I did see the ads many months ago, I did something very similar to my instructions above (I think... it's hard to remember), and they disappeared. It's worth a shot.

Otherwise, embrace it! Purple monkey dishwasher!

Make sure you're logged in, maybe you deleted your cookie.

The contextual ads come and go. Not sure what the reasoning is behind it. I do get them sometimes though.

uuuuh.... I'm pretty sure I'm logged in.

I don't see any pop ups or underlined words in any posts. What exactly is it then?

Really? Malware or adware is not even slightly a Windows only issue?

Let me guess, a Windows user? Or not even slightly?

While Apple products are less prone to malware, they do have the unfortunate habit of infecting many of their users with the "insufferable douchebag" virus.

CRM114 04-08-11 02:14 PM

Re: I don't like the added links in my posts

I admit it. Live and learn, I suppose.

(I love the language "less prone" too. That's good. That's right up there with the matter-of-fact proclamation that this isn't even slightly a Windows issue.)

Does Nick Danger know that you are "infected"???????????

Oh the horror.

Re: I don't like the added links in my posts

I'm not infected. Nothing showed up on the scan, and this is the only site this is happening on.

I think it sucks.

Learn to fucking read. That's not what I said, nor is that what I was referencing.

Are you really that dumb?

edit: funny that you post a Dilbert comic that very blatantly makes fun of people just like you, and you use at as some retarded attack against Windows users. Oh, the irony.
