JavaScript Drop Down Menu

Has anybody else notice the JavaScript drop down menu (for changing forums) that used to be in the upper left corner is gone? I used that a lot to change between forums.

I hope it returns it was very useful.

Re: JavaScript Drop Down Menu

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the giant DeepDiscount ad.

Yeah, I was just looking for the damn thing too. Annoying to have to scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Re: JavaScript Drop Down Menu

I came here to whine about the same thing. Is this what we can expect whenever there are these oversized ad banners? How much extra does one pay to inconvenience the entire forum?

Re: JavaScript Drop Down Menu

Agreed. I hate those huge ads, and then to move the drop down to a different place is just stupid.

What ad?

Came to complain about the drop down. 14 and 9 are the only forums I remember and going to the forum list is annoying.

Heh. I didn't even know there was one at the bottom of the page. I always used the one at the top. I use it a lot as it's the only way to directly go to the Blu-ray bargains thread without going through the DVD bargains thread. I wish it was on the drop down menu on the main page.

IB have been made aware of concerns raised by some in this thread

I admit to some bias, as I don't use any of the dropdowns in my day-to-day use of the forum and so hadn't noticed any difference as a result of any particular advertising banner.

However, one or two people have mentioned the dropdown at the bottom of the page and, if I was worried about saving time, I'd probably save particular forums as "favourites" or in a toolbar.

(Incidentally, the Blu-ray Bargains sub-forum (& DVD Clubs) is linked to on the main forums listing page - admittedly only useful if you're on the main page when the Blu-ray Bargain fancy takes you).

Re: JavaScript Drop Down Menu

I just use tabbed-browsing and have never had the need for the menu.

Re: JavaScript Drop Down Menu

If you block the ads in firefox (not that anyone would do that), everything is still there, so I'm guessing once that beast of an ad goes away, everything will return. At least I hope so.

Now that begs the question... Why is that damn ad still there? The sale is over.

Re: JavaScript Drop Down Menu

The lack of a drop down at the top is particularly annoying given that the urls of the forum changed from just numbers to names a while back; that's what got me using the drop down in the first place.

Re: JavaScript Drop Down Menu

I've never used the drop downs, since I always just use the main forum page as my "hub" to get where I need to. Quick clicks of the back button on my mouse is faster for me then clicking on a drop down, but I can see how losing it can be annoying.

I didn't even know there was a drop-down menu at the top, I've always just used the bottom one.

Same here except I used the top one and didn't know about the bottom one.
