Off-topic discussion regarding Forum rudeness etc split from a Music Talk thread

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, there isn't already a thread on the remasters.

Re: The Beatles - observations on the Remasters

There is, but it is very very long now. Figured I"d open up a new thread regards to changes to songs.

Re: The Beatles - observations on the Remasters

Then you probably should have mentioned it was about the changes in the thread title.

Re: The Beatles - observations on the Remasters

The thread title is "Observations" on the remasters. The previous, extremely long thread was started when the remasters were rumored to be released.

This is why I do not post much on this forum. The negativity here is ridiculous. I use this forum to get updates on things of interest to me only.

The OP listed a couple of things he has noticed since playing these discs and asked others to share their thoughts. This has nothing to do with the previous thread and is totally legit for a new thread.

I lost my original account several years ago due to an email address change. I have been here daily since around 2001, and to this day I still do not feel welcome here. Several of the responses here reinforce why...

Apparently, after so many posts, the lack of class, decorum and respect as well as the ability to post links are OK.....

Re: The Beatles - observations on the Remasters

I've been around just as long, and too have noticed a decline in respect and decorum. Still, I try. But I don't see this as being "the place to be while pretending to work" for much longer.

Ah, I long for the old days.

Am I missing something here? There seems to be a lot more complaining about rude remarks than actual rude remarks. I think under the circumstances every one has been polite and restrained so far.

I don't understand the confusion. There is already a thread on this topic. Why would we need another one?

For those that seem to think another thread is needed, sure have not posted their observations about the Remasters.

Re: Off-topic discussion regarding Forum rudeness etc split from a Music Talk thread

To allow the original thread to continue in a more positive vein. I have split and moved the off-topic posts to a discrete thread here in Feedback, as above.

If you have a complaint about moderation, the place to do it is in the Feedback forum.

But you know this already: by your own assertion you have been here for a long time, admit to multiple accounts* and from my observation take any opportunity to post negatively about the way things work here.

* Having multiple accounts technically is a banning offence although, historically, admins have tended to look at the reasons behind the offence - and the contribution the member in question has been making to the site - when judging how strictly to apply that rule. In this regard I would respectfully suggest that you email X to outline why you did not see fit to contact the admin team when you re-joined or, if you did make contact, what was said at the time. In any such communication no doubt X would like to know your original DVDTalk member name and the email address that is no longer valid.

I don't usually venture into the music forum. Apparently, I've been missing out.

Re: Off-topic discussion regarding Forum rudeness etc split from a Music Talk thread

As an old-timer I remember the Geoff days when people weren't allowed to use the "F" word in threads. I do think general courtesy has taken a dive since then but it certainly isn't unique to this site or anywhere else on the Internets....

Or when any of George Carlin's 7 dirty words were not allowed in thread titles. (not sure if they officially allowed, but they are getting by).

You know, ONE sentence regarding this fact in the original thread; original post could have avoided this whole mess.

Sometimes the onus is on the OP to pre-emptively clear things up, when they know they may be about to muddy the waters.
