Damn, this post loss is annoying. I was going to hang out at dvdtalk while I chilled at work today.

Bad news. I'm under the assumption that the threads that are missing are a complete goner, so ..I would not hold up any hopes on them coming back... Sorry.

I covered that with the whole Curly 'chop hand' metaphor thing above.

was this why my 'texting strangers' thread got deleted? or did it get deleted on purpose? if so, why?

Don't they have backups?

Looks to me like they restored a backup and that's why we only lost 20 or so hours worth of posts instead of every post ever.

Actually, this whole debacle was simply a smokescreen to cover up the fact that we deleted your thread.

At least there's an explanation; for years I've dealt with people ignoring my posts, or them being threadkillers, but to think that they were being deleted was a little to much for my tinfoil-hatted mind to deal with.

I know we had this "accidental" thread purge from earlier in the year. What can we do to trigger another one later today? We'd lose a few good posts, but I think it may be worth it. :D

On an unrelated note, I was looking for this thread by searching for Y2K10 glitch and the search found a thread that was one of the ones deleted, the one I referenced below. Couldn't pull up the thread, however...instead it directed me to a different thread (one started later that day). Very interesting that though something was deleted, the search found it.

Yep. The forum started acting really strange a couple of hours ago. I even created a feedback thread about Y2K10.

**Thread bump**

I was thinking about the huge forum crash from a year ago which wiped out tons of threads/posts never to be seen again. Any chance something similar will happen as 2010 winds down or was it a once in a lifetime phenomenon?

I've noticed a lot of missing posts. Some good conversations now seem a bit disjointed.

Or a member deleted it himself. I think the original issue has been commented upon to the extent that mods are able so I'd prefer that the thread not now be used for an oblique discussion about anyone that'd choose to absent himself from the forums in such a <s>dramatic</s> manner, thank you.

I'll leave it open in the event that an IB person wishes to get back to you in this or the "1/9/11" thread.
