Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time. I can tolerate the large ad, obnoxious as it is, but if we start getting popups, I'll have to browse elsewhere.

We can complain all we want and it's not going to make any difference. The only way to effectively show displeasure would be to stop visiting the site.

IMO, we're nowhere near there yet.

I agree with tracer, but I won't be paying a premium member donation to get ads. That's stupid.

Ditto. And that is beside that all we've got for being a premium member is an avatar and a dead forum.

Well it did when people politely voiced their opposition to ads with audio and intertextual pop-ups. We haven't had any of the former after the contractually obligated campaign ended and IB removed the latter. I'm not saying the IB is great and wonderful, but give them credit where credit is due.

If anyone wants to Paypal me $20 I will change my avatar to anything you want (within forum guidelines). I make roughly 200 posts a week so it's a pretty good deal!

Yeah, I honestly don't care about banners and the little icons....but the pop-ups? Really? I thought I had accidentally hit something with my thumb on my iPhone and it popped up but no, and now after being on the forum for a few minutes, and as I was reading this, I got another netflix pop-up. What. The. Fuck.

Since I just upgraded to premium recently, this makes me feel particularly poopy.

I haven't seen the pop-up. Count me in as one of the lucky ones.

Here is how the Other Forum looks now on a 1024x768 screen.

<a href="http://imageadventures.com/other/dvdtalkheader.jpg"><img src="http://imageadventures.com/other/dvdtalkheader.jpg" width=640></a>

Yeah, all the posts are actually off the screen. I'm not sure that's a good idea for a forum, if you don't even see... the forum.

I'm seeing the banner, the popups, the annoying logo on the Political Film forum.....and I'm logged in. As a premium member. So much for my plans to renew in a few months.

Glad I never signed up for a premium membership. Appears to be a big waste of money (I have avatars turned off. Makes the forum look messy and childish to me.)

Re: eyesore - please remove - kthnxby.....

Yep. I would have gladly paid for a premium membership when Geoff owned the site, but paying money to IB for popups and "sponsored" forums that no one asked for and that clutter up the site? No thanks.

Re: eyesore - please remove - kthnxby.....

The pop-ups and the giant sized banner are not pleasing, imo. I don't mind advertising on the site (we've always had it), but when it makes it difficult to just browse and read the forums, that's a problem. I would have the same complaints if we did what certain forums do and embed ads into key phrases.

Gotta agree, the site is starting to look really amateurish now, IMO.

You post about 40 per week and I post about 120. So I want. $60.
