That's because the right aligning and unbolding was a template change. Since vB 3.8 was just released and 4.0 is soon to follow, We'd like to do the least number of template modifications as possible.
The post titles are currently in two nested divs. Using a single div instead is trivially more efficient. More importantly, if you defined a single CSS style for the titles, you'd minimize the number of template modifications: any further changes to the titles would involve changing the stylesheet rather than the HTML template. Besides, the current divs use the attributes class="smallfont" and align="right", ignoring the logical use of CSS to define styles based on content and organization (e.g. give titles their own style).

I'm too lazy to dig up a link for reference but having numerous hr's in a single page is one of the signs of bad web design.

That would rock!!!
Want a Greasemonkey script that would accomplish that for you?

Remember when there was only one set of footprints? That's when I was carrying you!

One of the new tweaks has turned my default language to Latin or something. I can't understand any of this.

Re: What's with the automatic titles in posts?

^ I'm ashamed to admit that, up until about ten years ago, I was "the computer guy" that everyone came to for help, built my own systems, etc.

But then I went sort of cold turkey on all that technology stuff. I'm so far behind now that barely know how to set up a home network.

But maybe the learning bug will hit me again someday. Until then, I struggle thru and usually know where to go for help.

I agree that removing the hr tag and using a simple underline would be a great final step to de-cluttering, if possible.
It wasn't a big deal then, either. My initial point applies to then as well as now - it's people making mountains out of molehills.

I've certainly never seen that happen here.

They don't bother me, for the most part. I imagine I'll learn to ignore them, as I do most people's signatures.

yeah i'm finally getting really bothered by that line at the top of every post.

I keep thinking everything under it is someone;s signature.

I've thought that on posts that are very short - my first thought is they included an image that hasn't shown up.
