Do what he says, not what you did.

Put it in your 'hosts' file. Follow his wiki link if you don't know how. It's all spelled out in his post. (or just use an adblocker as someone else mentioned)

I'm not seeing the "top selling discs" one but I am seeing the "hot deals" one on each review page. Guess I'll be going elsewhere for my movie/dvd reviews now.

Wow! I just checked a review from another browser without blocks and there are 5 big graphic adds for 'createspace'. 1 at top, 3 on the side, and 1 at the bottom.

It's a shame as this is a good place for reviews, but this place is getting REALLY UGLY.

I agree. I understand the need for ads to support running the website but those are excessive.

Wow. I guess I have something installed through Firefox, because I'm not getting anything like that yet.

I love these informative Amazon ads! How else would I be aware that the full-screen version of Sex and the City is currently the 6th most popular DVD they stock? I thought consumers had moved beyond their ignorant fear of widescreen years ago, but that high ranking seems to invalidate that. Either way, it certainly says something about the film's audience.

I clicked over to a few reviews and didn't find anything that I would call obnoxious. Only thing I really noticed was one at the very bottom (big whoop) and something on the side. Nothing that really gets in the way of reading the actual review.

For quite some time now I've been running Firefox with Adblock Plus, NoScript, and Flashblock which eliminates all annoying ads, scripts, and flash animations from web pages.

It's quite shocking just how much less cluttered and annoying web pages are without all of that crap. Everything operates much smoother and pages are easier to read.

I will occasionally websurf on a machine that doesn't have all of the above protections, and it's really quite shocking just how fucking annoying all of that shit can be. Pages look like they should speeding around a NASCAR track; ads are playing music and talking to me; flash crap starts popping up right in the middle of pages I'm trying to read...

(And, to be honest, DVDTalk is hardly the worst ad offender out there.)

But if it really bothers you guys, can't IB shrink the search box and the width of the "DVDTalk Headlines" table and get everything on one page?

The Ad Blocker script for greasemonkey also works really well if you don't mind the adds flashing for a half a second before disappearing.

IB isn't going to do anything obviously. It's there for a reason.

You're choice is to find a way to block it. And some options to do that have been posted.

What exactly do you like about IE that prevents you from switching to Firefox? Maybe we can help you with overcoming that.

Suit yourself. Not using a browser that is obviously better because you're "not a follower"?

Works for me.

IE7's not a bad browser, in some cases I like it better then Firefox.

Still, buy a new monitor that supports a higher resolution.

so far a few people in this thread said they use it over IE, so how is that "obviously better"? preference does not equal superior product.
