Question About Reported Posts

I just wanted some clarification about the reported post function. I reported some offending posts 3+ weeks ago from a couple of threads, and I wanted to know what was an acceptable time to inquire about them. I believe I sent a PM after it originally was reported, and one a couple weeks later.

What is the normal response for something like this? I understand it is the holidays, so it would take longer, I'm just trying to get an idea of a typical timeframe for something like this.

Just a general note about reporting and time.

If it is an obvious call (spammer, etc) than the response is normally within minutes, depending on the time of the day.

If it is a controversial call and requires forum owner or other moderator discussion, it can take days. Sometimes a week or more even.

If after a few weeks, in general, they don't agree with you that action needed to be taken.

Not speaking to your specific report since I don't get them anymore (yay).

PM's to individual mods need to be responded to by those mods. The Report This Post feature basically sends an email to every mod for that particular forum. Sometimes there is a discussion amongst the mods about the post, other times not. As RandyC mentioned, the most likely result is that there was a conversation and it was decided that no action was needed. It's very rare that a RTP was initiated and every mod and admin just passed on it or didn't look at it. If you want to PM me I can try to get you an official answer to any specific issue you're referring to.

Also note PMing me or emailing me about a problem isn't effective as I'm no longer the admin of DVD Talk.

I wasn't sure about that, but I figured you weren't involved in that kind of stuff anymore.

Can we still call you at 3 AM? You know, just to talk.
