Is S P A M a Banned Word?

I used the word s_pam in a thread and it simply didn't appear. It didn't have asterisks like banned words usually do, it just wasn't there. Actually I had used s_pammer and only saw mer. Doing a search on the word pulls up a number of threads, but in each of them the word is simply missing! Is this word being controlled somehow to not show? I'm intrigued and confused.

Editing to add in examples: I get lots of spam in my email. I always delete spam without reading it.

Okay, did the word appear in the two sentences above?

Well, I guess I can forget about starting a thread in Other about my visit to the Museum when I visit friends in Minnesota next month. Hormel really does have a Museum in Austin, Minn., and I really am going there next month.

(The preceding paragraph should have had the word "S p a m" before the word Museum.)

So, why can I now see it in my original post but not in Mr. Salty's post that follows?

It's weird. If I click the edit button, the word "spam" isn't being blocked, it has been deleted completely from my first post.
