Please get rid of "Post Your Thoughts" on Reviews!

Exhibit A:

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=486014

I have yet to see a single example of this feature being used for anything remotely informative or useful. I know I can't be alone in this opinion. The only people who use it are those like the example above.

It was a decent Idea in theory, but is a failure in execution. If someone wants to comment on a film, there is invariably already an existing thread on each and every one that gets reviewed. dump it please!

yah, I have used it as a way to start a thread before, but several times have seen it double up on topics as opposed to falling into the discussion already at hand. I think mos people who read the reviews, know how/where to post on the forums. Axe it

Is this just anti-theatrical talkbacks or does it apply to DVD reviews too?

Why not replace it with a link to the appropriate forum: DVD Reviews and Recommendations or the Movie Forum.

I think the DVD review responses are generally good; it is usually a member who has a question about some aspect of the set or about a potential double-dip, etc. The theatrical reviews tend to bring in the crazies who want to expound on how stupid they think the reviewer is or who just want to type "This movie sucks" and leave. It is rare that the response has something useful to say about the movie.

I'd leave it in the DVD reviews (where I think it is usually used to discuss the review and ask specific technical questions) and take it out of the theatrical ones, if that is not too tough to do.

Nope, that wouldn't be tough to do at all. I could link directly to the theatrical forum for those reviews and keep using the current method for everything else. I need to get the thumbs-up from Geoff first, though.

To be fair, I think that's just the norm in the Movie forum as well (and one of the reasons I don't really read it much any more).

The shit responses far outweigh the insightful ones.
