The End of Pop-Unders on DVD Talk

I am please to announce that effective today DVD Talk has ended all site and forum pop-unders.

You, our readers/forum members have made it clear that these pop-unders were both intrusive and annoying, and so after a month or so of weening our advertisers off this format we're happy to be able to stop them completely.

This will have a financial impact as the pop-unders did of course generate revenue. So clicking on and supporting the advertisers who use other banner sizes (the top banners and in message ones) will be helpful to help with this impact.

- G

PS. I think we've removed all pop-under tags, but if for some reason you get a pop-under somewhere on the site, please post the url of the page that generated the pop-under and the url of the ad you got.

That is good news.

But to repeat my past suggestion, I think the site should use more image ads that don't require scripts to load it.

Good to hear Geoff. Although I browse with a browser that doesn't load those ads so as far as I'm concerned, you're not losing revenue on me with the change.

To help you out I clicked on the Wynn properties ad and immediately bought 4 condos (use DVDTALK-W06 to get 50% off the Imperial Spa upgrade!).

Cool.

Time to revisit the idea of a premium membership as another source of income?

I'll pay $100 a year to keep Groucho trapped in the Politics forum.

And I thought it was just a beneficial part of my suspension! Well, thanks for getting rid of them.

Thanks. I'll be sure to use my "click" to close the pop-under ad on one of the other ads of my choice.

People still use browsers that show pop-up/under ads?
