Avatar?

I clicked to edit my avatar but the option of 'do not use avatar' is automatically ticked and I can't change it - why?

Avatar's are only enabled for Administrators, Moderators, and Staff Reviewers at this time. I believe it is a bandwidth related issue.

Do a forum search if you want to read more about it. There are a number of threads regarding.

It's a shame we cant all have avatars but if it means the pages load faster then so be it.

Maybe in the future, Avatars can be made available to regular members after you have posted so many messages or been a member for X amount of months.

So only certain people can have avatars? This is the small pic or icon under your name? I tried to do one today but was unable to.

Yes. Only, as it was stated above, reviewers, mods, and administrators.

Get over it.

I posted that suggestion about a year ago (and I'm sure someone did before me).

They were rumored to be part of DVD Talk premium content, but Geoff has been able to keep this great forum gratis. That to me is far more valuable than an avatar.

I'm actually pretty happy this place doesn't have avatars. However, if there was an option to not see them (there may be already, I haven't had to check), I woudn't care.

We Need Avatars.

Anybody else besides me,think it would add to this forum if we were allowed avatars?

Yeah, but only mods or reviewers get them.

Also this should have been posted in the feedback forum.

CAG's forums are free, and they have avatars. Is their bandwidth much bigger than this forum's?

Why can't we have avatars, and why can't I receive or send PMs?

Having said that, I do think that avatars and especially sigs, when they get loaded with images, clog up the "airwaves".

This might be a good topic for the Feedback Forum, since it relates to the site and not DVDs.

Needs to go to the Feedback Forum...

But I too think we should have them.

I 100000% agree here. Siglines and avatars just slow the site down and clutter it up. I prefer the nice clean look of the forums. Count me in as a dissenting vote for avatars and /or sig line images.

Avatars won't help me learn anything about DVDs. Screw 'em.

avatars are brokeback. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

They take up space and slow down the site. Not needed.

I'm cool with not having avatars. It just makes the really important people stand out more. And I too enjoy the clean look of the place.
