The odd thing -- it comes up if you search for "Boston Legal" (in quotes).

I tried searching on "prime" without the quotes and the search didn't come up with a recent thread on page 2 for me. I guess I'll try using quotes in searches from now on.

I had a similar problem when searching for the "Rome" episode threads. There were a couple that didn't show up until I got creative with my search parameters.

This has been happening to me for a few weeks now.

I used to be able to search the Trade Forum by looking for a title on my trade list. Doesn't work anymore. Ditto for TV Forum. I know if I posted in a TV thread about a certain show, I can do a search on something I said and nothing comes back.

It has definitely lead to more duplicate posts about episodes on the TV Forum, and it makes it harder to find any information about DVDs I am looking for or a DVD I might want to trade for on the Exchange Forum.

Search is all messed up. Seems to be defaulting to OR behavior or something. Try this tip to get Search to work the way you expect it to: Put a + symbol in front of every term. For example, to find the Boston Legal threads, search for:

+Boston +Legal

This doesn't seem to be a cure-all. In some limited testing, I was able to perform at least one search with + symbols that excluded a significant number of threads. However, I think, overall, using +'s will give you results closer to what you expect than not using them.

I think it might not be using the title in its search results -- when I searched for some of the keywords specific to the individual posts in that thread, it comes up. Searching for the title in quotes also works.

it shows up.

There still something wrong with the search function. I searched for Grey's Anatomy before starting a new thread and nothing came up. I started a new thread about the DVd release and other member pointed out that there was a previous post of the topic. I'm mentioning this because duplicate threads are going to be more abundant if the search engine is not fixed soon.

Search seems to be somewhat working. But I couldn't find anything on the "Shipwrecked" dvd but came up with some results for "ship wrecked" in the dvd & international dvd forum but didn't see any threads on the actual dvd. AFAIK, there is only a R2 DVD version of the movie but I'd think that there were some discussions on it.

Everytime I try to search for threads that I have started is sends me to a page where it says that "search has been disabled" . Is there something wrong with the search function?

Okay, the search here is unbelievably bad. It seems like it doesn't find anything I am looking for nine times out of ten. I tried searching for desperate housewives by looking up both words in various methods (quotes, +, etc), and it found nothing. I ended up having to go page by page before I found it. It is so frustrating!

Is there anything that can be done about the search? It's been like it for months now.

I have NO idea why it's doing what it's doing. Will have to try to dig into it and see.

I just searched for the thread regarding Matthew Perry's weight gain/loss and when I searched "Perry," it didn't come up with the thread. (it works when I look just within the thread title, though)

I've noticed that sometimes I'll search for recent posts I've made and none of them show up. There's some sort of delay. Hmmm.

OK Here's the deal. There's a bug in the search architecture that we can not fix. Basically it is looking in the POST only, not the thread title. So to work around. Do an advanced search and select "Search Titles" and you'll probably be able to find what you are looking for.
