Anyone having trouble quoting a post?

The last ten times I've tried to quote a post the site just locks up and I get the old "not responding" from the IE.

Nice try there Numanoid but I didn't get the mirror.

BTW, it's now working half the time.

Me too. And I was trying to quote you. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

It was a really long fucking post, too. (It'll be the one in the bedroom thread. I was previewing it half-way through, so I didn't lose too much. It still sucked though. I also smartened up and saved the post in a notepad program just in case it did it again when I tried to post it. Of course, it did.

It seemed to be working well most of the day and then I went to quote WhoGirl's bedroom post (oddly enough) and it started acting up again. I tell ya, I smell a conspiracy.

They're probably still trying to fix the general problem with the forums running slowly at times. I had the usual problems earlier today.

I think it's more than trouble quoting a post. I'm having a very bad problem just posting in general, or editing my post, whether I quote someone or not.

You do have people working for you who know computers, don't you?

Hello?

Anyone in there?

I just made up a long reply with URLs to sites etc. for someone and hit reply. It locked up.

I hadn't had problems in the last few days and thought it was over. Maybe the long time spent replying is what locks it up.

Sure enough, I did a long reply and it locked up. At least I saved it in an email this time.

So that seems to be the problem with the reply lock up.

I'm getting the lock problem randomly (though not today, though I wasn't online much).

Not just with quotes, but with any kind of replies or edits. Browser goes to not responding for a minute or two, then it snaps out of it and puts the post through.

I had a delay of 6 minutes just a second ago. Post eventually went through though. Apparently the trick is to just wait out the (not responding) and it'll go through.

I'm getting the usual delays intermittently, but recently I've had a problem quoting ONE particular post, and it doesn't make any sense.

I tried to quote a post by PopcornTreeCt in one of the threads, and I got total lockup...every time. So I just made a post in the thread and didn't quote. Then I eventually found I could go to other threads and quote, so I thought the problem was solved. I tried to go back and insert his quote into my post...total lockup again, several more times. Then I tried something different. I quoted his post without inserting his ID into the post. Bingo. It took it with no problem. Just for goofs, I edited one more time and tried to enter his name into the quote...total lockup. So I just left the post with a quote credited to nobody and called it a day. But like I said, I've had no problems quoting anybody else in any other thread; just this one and only time.

EDIT: I just tried to enter PopcornTreeCt's name into that quote again...locked up completely. Yet, I see Michael Corvin was able to quote the same exact post, AND was able to use PTC's name in the quote.

I have had the locking problem, but only with LONG posts with links (or anything with an external URL, like images etc.)

I have waited several minutes of frustration before shutting down IE. Guess I didn't wait it out correctly. But it isn't just for replies (or 'reply with quote'). For example, the opening two posts of my "high end washer/dryer" thread choked as one post (there were pics in the post) so I made it 2.

To the best of my recollection, I have NEVER had it on a "regular sized" post, or one without external links.

I also noticed a problem when including stuff with "smart quotes", but I think that is unrelated to this issue. I also no longer use Word when composing long posts.

I had the issue the other day. It was a long post as well.
