there is a really big difference between calling someone stupid when you DISAGREE with them

saying "I'm with stupid", typically means you agree with what they are saying.. so it shouldnt be taken as hostile

Yes that's true, I called someone a dick in jest and received a sweet suspension.

In this overly-sensitive place, "stupid" is just as bad as "dick" and probably even worse (you can control being a dick; hard to control being stupid).

well I added it in hopes that it would be used properly, but I can see that it won't happen, so it's now gone .. (not sure if anyone has abused it yet, but I'm sure it would be if it's left)..

You're complaining about the "I'm with Stupid" being a personal attack, in certain contexts. Then you have a location that says "Surrounded by Idiots" which, in a certain context, could mean you're surrounded by idiots at this board. Hmm...

Way to go Toad. Given a week (9 days) off you have managed to come up with a spurious reason to kill one of the best smilies. To say that if you are "with stupid" you are making a personal attack against yourself first, and it was almost always used in fun. How that is an attack on someone else is truly baffling.

I suppose it could be misused. Like almost anything. You legislate each case depending on how it is used. With this reasoning in mind, I find the following smilies could be argumentative and used in a personal attack. Perhaps they should all be removed.

......... indicating someone misrepresented an idea
.... indicating someones posts are rather smelly
....... could indicate anger towards another poster
-notrolls- .... saying someone should just be fucking ignored
........ the use of religion to foist your concern upon others
