you havent cleared your cookies in 2 years????
No, should I. I don't get much spam. I have a Mac so most spyware does not work. I have yet to get a virus. My PC gets cleared regularly though for different reasons.
You could have cleared just the DVDTalk ones, you know?
Your other logins would have been fine :) |

Your other logins would have been fine :) On a positive note thus far it seems to have cured my problem. Thank God - I had loged in here 20 times in two days. |
I was having this problem. Cleared my cookies. Seemed to fix the problem. Came back a couple hours later and was logged out again. Rarely had this problem before.
FireFox 1.0 |

FireFox 1.0 I do notice that the same thing happens at http://forums.2005fordmustang.com They are using the same vBulletin V. 3.0.3 |
I'm having this issue with firefox 1.0 as well. I've deleted all dvdtalk related cookies (at least those that were named so) and it still makes me log in. I'd prefer not to delete all cookies if it is possible.
How do you delete only your DVDTalk cookies?? I have the same problem.
Depends on your browser. With Firefox and Mozilla, it's easy. You can manage your cookies from within the browser itself. With IE, you need to use Windows Explorer, set to show hidden files and folders, and navigate to the folder containing your cookies, then find the DVD Talk cookies in the list, and delete them as you would any other file.
[edit] Oh, and I forgot to add that, curiously enough, after a few hours away from my PC, I was again forced to log in to DVD Talk in Mozilla. No problem with IE, apparently. The puzzling thing is that I frequent a number of vBulletin forums, some of which are running 3.0.3, and none of them have this problem. |
I'm getting the same problem. Everytime I come back to the site I'm logged out. Tried clearing cookies and that didn't do anything.
Another Mozilla user that is constantly logging in.
I don't think its our browsers. I use Netscape 7.2 as well as Explorer. If I close the browser and reopen a short time later I am still logged it.
If I shut it down for an extended period i.e. over night, or for several hours, I have to log back in. Clearing cookies and cache have no bearing what-so-ever. (Windows XP, NO service pack 2) This is a real pain! :( |
Having the problem w/ the latest IE browser as well.
As you can from a couple of posts above I was in this morning. I never closed my browser but when I returned about five hours later I was no longer logged in.
I have pretty much tried each combination of keeping/deleting cookies, keeping/emptying my cache and two different browsers. This isn't our browsers, I feel this is in the software used to run the site and its kinda annoying. I have so many different passwords for so many sites online, I prefer to let my password manager keep track of them. However on this site, and only on this site since the change, it will not recognize it needs to cough one up. |
Same problem here with IE.
problems today, but not yesterday. hmmmm......
Having the problem here and at modthesims2, which just went to v3 as well. Will clear my cookies.
I can't log in at all with AOL 9.0. I get the 'redirect' screen, then goes back to 'you can't post here, you're not logged in.'
I can get logged on with IE 6.0.28 I cleared my dvdtalk cookies, so I'll see if I stay signed in, but still can't get in on AOL. |
If you clear your cookies after you leave this site, you'll definately be logged out. I tried several variations and when I cleared the cookies, I was out.
Today I could stay logged in even after I closed my browser as long as I didn't clear my cookies. Clearing the cache had no effect. This site still does not communicate with my paqssword manager. |
Login...login...login...this is driving me nuts!

Running Netscape 7.1. |
No luck for me with Firefox or IE or Safari.
This has to be a site problem...cause I am on 5 message boards that are all running the same version of vBulletin (3.0.3) and this is the only site that makes me login in all the time. I've tried both Firefox 1.0 and IE 6. I also tried the clear cookies thing with no luck.
Same thing's happening for me. Have to login every day.
Using Firefox 1.0, XP SP2. |
Geoff, are you ever going to post in here to let us know the status of this "bug"?
Clearing all my cookies on Firefox worked fine for me. I did it on Wednesday and haven't had to log in since.
Same problem, using Firefox 1.0. Clearing cookies works for a while, but after a day or so it logs me out.
I'm using Firefox 1.0 and I cleared cookies for dvdtalk.com and I have to log in everytime. Try this test, everyone. After logging in to dvdtalk.com, close your browser window. Then start a new window and visit dvdtalk.com again. Do you have to log back in? For me, I have to log back in everytime I do that.
At work with IE I seem to stay logged on. With Firefox no such luck.
Tried all the above suggestions, but I still have to log in everytime with Firefox 1.0 Really not liking the new forum. That ad under the first post is bad enough, but this logging in thing really gets old after awhile.
Same here. IE at work. 6.0
Not sure if there is any changes on the server-side, but today I noticed I was able to stay logged in after I close my browser and then reopen it to visit this site. It might also have something to do with my posting a message recently. For those of you having problem, have you try posting something and see if you are able to stay logged in after that?
I just tried clearing my cookies, then logging in and posting. Still no luck.
my home pc was logged in still, after me being away all weekend. But my work pc made me login about 30 minutes after I last logged in. :?
You are right. Posting doesn't make any difference. I had to log back in again. It was probably a fluke that I stayed logged in after I posted something earlier. I thought that was it, but I guess not.
LurkerDan, could you tell us which browser you use at home and at work? |
No luck here either with FF...tried clearing cookies but nothing. Getting annoying ..especially when it happens in mid-session.
