You can however post links to funny/strange ebay auctions that are not yours. As long as you are not promoting them it is ok.
For example:

I thought it would be nice to have a place for members to promote their ebay auctions. This could be done in a fairly simple table that would included the dvdtalk user name and a link their ebay ID page. Of course, all those links would be tracked back to dvdtalk to generate some link revenue...
I wouldnt mind seeing what other member have for sale, and using a combination of their feedback and dvdtalk profile to make a bid.
Although, i do understand the negavite aspects associated with people posting links to there individual auctions...

Well, what about this. How about you have to have so many posts, and have to be a member of DVD Talk for at least a year, in order to display links to your eBay auctions. This would filter out most scammers and the like.

It's already closed, so obviously this guy's "game" was found out, but either this clown wants to promote his eBay auctions or there's something in his eye: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=403593

One more question: there's an eBay store offering VERY good deals on PC games. Ok to post the store name in Hot Deals, or should I get my butt over to cheapassgamer/gametab? I've got no affiliation in any way shape or forrm, other than buying from them.

It is even worse when genuine members get sucked in by the spam and then have problems with deliveries/credit card billing etc.

BUT it would be nice to have a place where members could simply post a link to where their auctions are - not a specific auction.
That way if there are any power sellers and people on DVDtalk with a lengthy post history AND good ebay feedback we could support some dvdtalk members - not to mention they click throughs that would count for dvdtalk.
