I would, but I'm not so sure there's enough people to need a sub-forum.

actually, an all-around art subforum (photo, painting, drawing, sculpture, writing, poetry, whatever) would be a great idea. members could post samples of their artwork for feedback without feeling like it would turn into an Otter free-for-all (you know what I'm referring to) or just discuss art stuff. I think a user artwork subforum would be an AWESOME idea!

I agreed. I saw a thread recently where a guy put up his artwork for a honest critique from the forum. I thought that was really brave of him, but was saddened to see that one forum member took the occasion to make thinly-veiled "gay" jokes about the artist.

It's true. They even called him "sensitive" and "artistic" !!!!

Actually, nothing happened in my thread that bothered me. I was referring to the insane Luc TC threads where virtually everyone (including the OP) ended up acting a little bit like an ass. My thread was fine (even the weird partisan stuff didn't bug me). My only complaint was that it sort of just... died.

Yeah a more general forum for art is a great idea. I'd post for photography as I can only draw stick figures.

I agree, but they have a point about the threads getting derailed. I don't know if an art or photography subforum would prevent that though unless the mods just chose to crack down on it more.

A creative cornor would be nice. But if folks are going to ask for feedback, perhaps they shouldn't expect brown noising only. I would put my work up. That would be pretty neat. I'll even toss up any request of folks who want to be drawn by me.

There's clearly a difference between constructive criticism and nonsense threadcrapping. I would love a forum for actual criticism (good and bad) of user artwork. I doubt it would Otterfy - does the book forum turn into crazy Ottermania? (I guess I wouldn't know, having never gone in it...) If people wanted silly Otter-style "critiques" they could still go into Otter for that but a creative forum would probably work just fine. (I know we don't discuss them here but over at
Spoiler:
something awful
they have a creativity forum that is shockingly clean and productive given how unbelievably raunchy and raucous their main Otter-style forums get.)

And the poll at the top is obviously not accurate since it's just asking about a photo only forum.

So whaddya think, powers that be? Is an art forum on the horizon?
