DVDTalk Bargains has always been about posting deals. If you've got a deal you should share it. Yes it will probably get slammed, but that's the way this forum works.

Please stop this before it gets out of hand.

I have an opinion on this topic ... but it's a secret.

I want two volunteers, one to field emails and one to email all the people in the thread about my opinion. Volunteer 1, your screen name will be posted so that people will know that you're the gatekeeper for this opinion. Volunteer 2, I'll send you links to threads with more of my opinions. In exchange, both of you get the opinion right now. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I think it would be cool if through an organized underground effort we managed to get this opinion to a lot of people who want it. And like I said, the epiphany on this opinion is pretty crazy to begin with.

The OP of that deal didn't have to share this deal with anyone. He knew that if he posted it here that it would be on every deal site in minutes.....then no one would get the deal.

I just wish ppl would stop posting their e-mails in that thread cuz it's becoming a STL thread. If I were a spammer, I'd have a field day with all those e-mail addys.

I agree, these email harvesting threads suck.

My followup thread to the original thread, designed to come up with a method to "spread the word" without generating a huge list of the email addys, spiraled out of control and has been deleted by the mods.

I believe this is the first time I've started a thread and had it deleted. Woo hoo! Seriously, though, I was considering deleting it myself.

I will bet my soul that these so-called gatekeepers bullshit clique are the same people that jumped in on the Farscape price error, CC error, and CC $10 off $50 no minumum. It's Ok for them to suck on a deal that someone who's willing to share and yet play this childish game on who they think should get the deal. It's OK, you're on my shit list. Guess I know what to do from now on.

Hey, I was a gatekeeper! Being a gatekeeper for this deal was neataroo. I usually miss most of the deals, including those you listed, but was at the right place at the right time for this deal. If I didn't become a gatekeeper someone else would have. I emailed all 15 people that emailed me wanting to know about the deal before the original poster asked for no more emails to be sent. I had a couple dozen more emails come in after but I didn't respond to any since the original poster didn't want me to. If you want to get mad at me fine, but there are 15 other people I emailed that could have shared the deal and those the others gatekeepers emailed.

I rather a deal be posted and those that get it get it, but I'm not going to pass on a secret deal if I have a chance to get in on it, and I'm not about to email someone when I said I wouldn't. I'm guessing 50-75 people got in on this deal and I for one am glad I did. If I'm wrong for wanting to know what the deal was and keeping my word then I'm guilty.

I wanted to email groucho, dpham, mountain biker, adrenaline, etc but when I tell someone something I like to do my best to honor that. If I tell a friend I'll hang out Sat. I'll do it unless I can't for some unexpected reason.

Those that missed the deal have a right to be pissed and vent their frustration. I'd probably feel the same way if saw the deal after the conclusion.

If I'm on your "shitlist" for being a gatekeeper, something many others wanted to be, then I'll just shake my head in disbelief how someone can be so upset with someone in my position.

Now bragging about their secret club winnings and the first post who got in is a newbie. All this talk of seniority and they give it up to a newbie.

Yeah, I saw that thread as well. It should probably be deleted so this mystery deal can be a thing of the past. The original poster of the "mystery deal" shouldn't be shown any ill will since his purpose to begin with was a noble one. He asked someone to email all those that talked about buying the set in a specifc thread first since they showed genuine feelings towards buying it before this. It just turned into a mess since everyone was posting emails and the original poster asked for no more emails to be sent.

I just wanted to be a "gatekeeper" to begin with. Learning about the deal was icing on the cake.

But then what the point of a bargins forum... or hot deals or any forum.
Just AIM or set up a chatroom or something. The point is the community shares with each other as a whole Not this crap of posting or bragging I ahve a secret.
