Shout out to the DVDTalk mods

I've been a member of another message board (that shall remain nameless) that discusses TV shows for a few years. I started a thread in the section devoted to one of the shows I recently reviewed on DVD over here with a link to the review. A bunch of people posted that they enjoyed the review, posted things they thought were funny, discussed the DVD etc... So far so good. Then a mod deleted the link, all my posts and all the posts by other members mentioning the review, posted that I had "site pimped" (whatever that means) and gave me a vague warning. I checked the rules and found that they stated that you SHOULD post links to outside reviews rather than quote them. So I did nothing wrong. I posted that I hadn't "site pimped" and that I was offended that they suggested I'd done something wrong. So without any further detail they completely banned me. Although, my status still shows as "senior member" or something like that, so no one knows that I was banned or really that there was even a problem.

That's a site I've been active on for some time. And just like that I'm out over nothing.

Anyway, thanks as always to the mods and staff over here who allow discourse and dissent (within reason) and don't use this private space as som sort of uptight namby-pamby forum. Other forums are nowhere near as open and this little experience is just a reminder of how childish people can be when they're shielded by the anonymity of the internet. I'm pretty pissed that they kicked me out over nothing without even offering me a chance to discuss what the hell they were talking about over that that other site and won't bother reading any of their crap any more.

(edited for clarity)

That was some pretty cold treatment from the other forum.
