I see no problem with them, unless I missed where they cross into personal attacks against members here.

Bashing of groups of people and/or celebrities or people in news articles has pretty much always been allowed with some exceptions like racist comments, bashing religions etc.

yeah, if that was over the line then it seems like the thread in question is too (unless the rainbow thread was closed because of the use of a certain word, in which case that post probably would have just been editted)

It pretty much was. Could it have been edited? Sure. But by doing so we would have been hiding the offense instead of directly addressing it.

It was closed for length at the request of the member who started the thread... not because a moderator decided it was too long. :)

not that mods need to justify their actions, but to be clear, we got numerous reports about that thread and i was busy at work so I just closed the thread and moved on. Dead came back later and addressed the issue.

I wasn't questioning and I can see why it should have been closed, I just thought that the "fatties" thread had some equally offensive content (especially early in the thread). I had assumed that it was a matter of how much each thread was reported or not reported, so I really didn't think much of it.
