And like I've said - in the right context, in the proper place, people can go to town. It doesnt matter to me. I'm sorry for getting pissed - but man it's frustrating to have to sort through all the hate for the meat of the discussion.

The solution is to just skim over those posts, put some people on your ignore list, and use the "report this post to a moderator" link when someone is thread crapping in a SW thread not discussing changes or the quality of the movie.

Actually I'm going to go with option 2. Welcome to my killfile, Revy - you're the first person on my ingore list ever.

I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks Rivero's posts are threadcraps are clueless. Constant bitching about someone's opinion is a threadcrap!

Why not?

If you have a valid criticism and if you can articulate it... why shouldn't you? Isn't that what discussion boards are for? Or does every LotR have to be a love-fest about how great they were?

I would certainly like some good healthy discussion/debate about changes, rather than having two different threads -- one filled with "I love the changes, can't wait for the DVDs" and the other filled with "Man, these changes blow... where do I sign a petition?" Should every thread be broken into two now, to prevent people from playing nice and discussing differing viewpoints?

I'll say it again -- I saw VERY little threadcrapping in the previous thread. However there *was* some pretty interesting discussion about the changes to the films. It just seemed that every time someone disagreed with the changes, they were told to F-off, or told to "shut up, it's just a movie."

That what was causing the issues for me, not the people who were pro or con -- the people who refused to actually discuss and back up their positions.

IF you want to live in la-la land and only discuss positive aspects of Star Wars, head over to www.theforce.net.

I am sure you will find plenty of people to ditto whatever you say.

I agree with chanster.

As long as it's not "LUCAS RAPED MY CHILDHOOD AND KICKED MY DOG BEFORE HE EDITED THE OT" then I'm alright with a civil point/counter point discussion about star wars from both the haters and the lovers of the franchise.

Two threads, one for fans and one for haters, will do nothing to solve this issue.

Why should people have to go somewhere else just to have a discussion without any Threadcraps/Hijacks?

Because having a different opinion on a change is different than a threadcrap. Sure there are people guilty on both sides, but the way "threadcrap" was wielded in the "Star Wars DVD Changes" thread was ridicoulous. Rivero might be guilty of some stuff, but he didn't do anything wrong in that thread.

Again, Rivero's posts in the DVD changes threads were NOT threadcraps. Some have accused him of thread crapping there, but they were wrong. Many of his posts have been thread craps (see examples above) but the changes thread was not one of them.

This isn't rocket science people Read Static's post about thread crapping in DVD talk.

The posts in that thread were fine. It's when people start bashing movies in threads not discussing the merits of the movies (or in this case also changes to the movies) that the negative opinions turn into thread craps.

And yes, having two threads is no solution. But hopefully it will be at least a temporary reprieve were people can discuss both sides of the issue (excitement for the DVDs, dissapointment in the changes and not getting the OT) without fighting between the few blow hards on each side.

Time will tell if that will hold up, if it hasn't already failed (haven't checked the forum in a couple hours).

People shouldn't have to go to The Force.net to discuss SW without the threads devolving into a flamewar between haters and fanboys.

I'd like to talk about the movies in a civilized manner with the normal movie fans here. I have no interest in discussing SW with the rabid fanboys at TFN.

From the Pro-Wars thread (ported over so not to add to the signal/noise ratio)

There's legitimate complaining and then there's the constant whining. One is "I don't believe he left those matte lines around the Rancor" and then letting it go. The other is going on and on and on and on about how bad the changes suck since the special editions came out over SEVEN years ago.

Let it go people.

Ok the two thread idea didn't work out, and I see the point that some like debating something as banal as changes to a popcorn flick, so lets try this.

One thread just to post info on the DVDs, for people like me that want to read about what's been added, look at pics, etc. and don't give to shits what people on the internet think about them (both fans and haters).

That thread is here:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=377414

And another thread where people can debate the changes back and forth until their hearts' content (and any bashing comments are on topic and thus not threadcraps).

That thread is here:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=377413

The positive and negative threads have been deleted for, you guessed it, thread craps.

Josh,

I totally appreciate what you are doing in trying to find homes for all Star Wars fans and those who are upset.

However, I posted a message that took some time and energy in your positive thread, and now it is gone forever. Could you let people know when you are going to delete one of your threads next time? I'm afraid to post in your latest one because I fear you will simply delete it if it upsets you.

Thank you

Rooked

Sorry a few bad apples ruins the bunch.

People bitch about having too many threads on one topic in the forum (especially when it's Star Wars), so I wasn't going to post two new ones and leave the other ones there.

Here's a new thread crap example from the new DVD changes thread.

No need to cross the line into insulting the people who disagree with you.

This goes both ways, there was an earlier post with that "lucas raped my child hood" crap insulting the other side that was reported and deleted by a mod (which is why it isn't quoted here).

To the original poster:

Now you know how us Tarantino fans feel - just deal with it, besides, I found that posting "Quentin fans only please" in one of my thread titles helped out 100%

Whatever though, I myself don't post in threads I don't like - well, 98% of the time I don't
