Is this a new feature having the person's name appear?

I'm pretty sure it's always been that way too.
Remember the good ol' days when it would just append that text to your message, so every time you edited a post, you'd have to go find it and remove it if you were maintaining a frequently updated thread?

I think there is a grace period of about a minute before that note gets added to the bottom of the post. If you make edits right after you hit the submit button it doesn't show up.

Yeah, a minute grace period sounds about right. I've gotten in under the wire many times, so that people would not realize that I can make mistakes.

If I'm over that minute, I'll usually cut all my text, delete my post, paste my text and repost. No silly "last edited by" tag. It impedes a post's credibility.

Just one more mod perk.
