Why Can't I Post??
Odd thing...... First my signature disappeared, then after I reset it the next day I can't reply to messages. Why is that?
Possibly Geoff didn't like my signature? I wouldn't know since I haven't heard from him or anyone else from this site. I checked the rules. Unless I missed something, it doesn't say anything about getting someone's permission to quote them. And my signature was simply a quote from Geoff stating the obvious "we're not the only kid on the block".
Did I hurt your precious feelings Geoff??

Seems strange that someone who is clearly so keen to obey the letter of the forum rules could have missed this one....
.... especially given that Geoff recently posted a reminder.
Oh well.

I'll try to not use this "other" name. Shame no one told me I was suspended or for how long. Oh well, I guess their members aren't important to them.....

I just didn't like the framing used in the sequel. The art direction left a little to be desired as well...

In general it's because Geoff is trying to create something of an online community, so it helps that other members (and the mods for that matter) always know who they're talking to (at least based on past posts).
Obviously, if someone starts posting under more than one username, it becomes much more difficult to know who you're talking to.
On the annoyance factor, it tends to just get used for jokes and, of greater concern, for making personal attacks or other antagonistic posts.
It's also been a tactic used by people who spam the site, to make it look like "other people" have used a product or site with success, when it's really the same person who posted the product or site in the first place.
In this particular case, when one is suspended, it kind of defeats the purpose of the suspension if you are allowed to simply create a new username and thereby continue to be able to post on the site.
Hope that helps.

I was thinking how strange it was for a newbie to be objecting so much to pop-ups and taking Geoff to task on it.
Then I remembered that jim in cincy has been around here for a year and a half.
How ****ing sad (for me, I think)
