I would like to add that for the most part, the Administrators only "mess" with users who don't mind taking a jab. Like others have said, it's a sign of acceptance and a sign that they know you.
There was one day way back when that my username changed about half a dozen times. I don't even remember all the iterations...I think some were, Hot Carl, immoral_zeus, and I think one was even Captain Samuel Jackson (or something like that....because of that Samuel Jackson cameltoe picture).
Anybody else remember what some of the other ones were? 
But hey....if you don't like them messing with your name and/or your posts, you just have to bring it to their attention and they will keep you on their mental (or actual) list of people not to "joke" around with.
