Look a few posts up. When asked if it is ok to ask why a member is currently suspended...

No, it's not fair to them since they can't respond. And inquiries into why they were suspended are improper as that is between them and the moderators.

It sure seems like a lot more people are getting suspended/banned around here lately, or it is just my imagination? Scanning through threads after a few weeks away, it suddenly feels like half the names on them are suspended or banned. Is it just me, or is there a "crackdown" on abusive posting going on lately? Just curious.

Feels like a crackdown. Happens from time to time. Much of the suspensions well earned, IMHO.

Can we still ask how LONG their suspensions are? The mods usually give the length of the suspensions already.

Bushdog: Well. I wouldn't call it a crackdown, I'd say its more like the Summer heat is getting to some members.

It's always about length isn't it?

Most suspensions are one week. There are some exceptions, ranging from a couple days, to 2-3 weeks. But at least 90% are one week.

I still get angry emails from all the other mods, telling me that I should have made it permanent.

How long does it take a compulsive troll poster to get suspended or banned?

I'm just curious.

They only get banned when the administrators get really fed up with them.

Is this the thread to tell our amusing stories on why we got ourselves suspended?

How Does Someone Get Suspenders?

How Does Someone Get Suspenders?

Hmmm....this is a weird question to ask. I assume you go to some place like K Mart or Walmart. Look for suspenders and if you can't find them, ask an associate. Take them to the front where the registers are and go in line. Make sure you have cash or a credit card and when the item is rung up, pay for it. Now you have suspenders. I am sure you can also do a search on line and acquire them that way. Any more questions?

I just got back from my suspension or ban or whatever you want to call it for something I never did. It was just over something stupid. I do follow the rules of the board and some of these certain moderators need to take a chill pill and not take some posts too seriously.

I know it had something to do with evenflowddt (who is also suspended for whatever reason, and I don't care). I made a thread in this board that was made directly at evenflow and I got suspended for it. That thread I made was an attack at him, I admit, but he knew he had it coming since he kept following me around at everypost I make and ridiculing every little thing I say.
Evenflow was simply opening himself up for an attack since he kept stalking me in the public boards.

I thought it was a ridiculous suspension in my book, and my suspension was totally uncalled for. When evenflow comes back from his suspension, I will totally ignore him from this point on, so I wouldn't get another ridiculous suspension again.

Rocky,

DVD Talk Membership is not a god given right - it's predicated on following the rules of our forum. While you claim to follow the rules of the forum you were suspended for personally attacking another member a clear violation of our rules.

I'm sorry but the 'He Had it Coming' excuse doesn't fly. If you have a problem with another member you need to report the posts to a moderator and let us deal with it, NOT go on the offensive.

Suspensions are designed to give people a break from the forum, help give them a little perspective and enough time to change the attitiude which got them in trouble in the first place. I think your recent suspension is a perfect example that this doesn't always work.

I think as a tribute to our fallen comrade, I'm going to pick up the habit of vigorously defending the cinematic legacy of Burt Reynolds...
