DVDTalk is loading slow or not at all again. Any help?

Ok, so last night I did a weekly run of AdAware and Spybot to clean out any spyware. It ran fine as usual, cleaning out about a dozen cookies and the like. The computer ran fine for the rest of the night.

When I turned on the computer and tried to visit this site today, It wouldn't load at all. I tried again later and it loaded, but very, very slowly. (took about 20 seconds or more when it usually takes 1-2)

I don't have any idea what's going on, but I guess it's a problem with my machine. Any help is appreciated.

I'm running Win XP home and IE 6.0.

Thanks,

jw

DVDTalk is extremely slow?

Anyone else experiencing DVDTalk very slow to access? It took ove a minute just to load this new thread page.

Groucho 04-06-03 04:31 PM

I am having the same problem. I am submitting this reply at 12:35pm, February 2, 2001.

X 04-06-03 04:33 PM

It isn't your problem. The site is off-and-on very slow.

Phil L. 04-06-03 04:41 PM

Yep, absolutely craaawwwwllling for me as well.

I have to keep another window open with porn just to have something to do while waiting for DVD Talk to load. -wink- :D

Gallant Pig 04-06-03 05:16 PM

Seems to be server side since the ping speed is normal. For me that Thirst banner loads and that's all I see for 30 seconds and I get all freaked out. :D

GeoffK 04-06-03 06:42 PM

Router issue. It is being addressed, I'll let you know when I have an update.

jw2299 04-06-03 08:39 PM

It's working better already. :):):)

X 04-07-03 02:10 AM

That router has been working very well for a while now.

GeoffK 04-07-03 10:11 AM

The router which services the site needs to be replaced so expect outages and poor connection speed today

hgar78 04-07-03 11:00 AM

thanks for the update, i thought something was wrong with my computer too.

Hurry up....I want my DVD Talk!

asabase 04-07-03 01:00 PM

You can hit the stop button and the rest of the page should load while we wait for the fix.

Iron Chef 04-07-03 01:18 PM

greatjedi 04-07-03 03:55 PM

I've been having trouble also. Slow or not at all. :(

movieking 04-07-03 04:20 PM

Ditto - slow for me. Just thankful that it is not my POS computer that is causing it this time...

damn_skippy 04-07-03 04:44 PM

Groucho

It is still really, really slow for me.

Ranger 04-07-03 04:52 PM

Its on and off for me, too.

costanza187 04-07-03 05:02 PM

Yea I been having problems too, isnt it ironic, when I tried to access this thread, it sat there for a long time then I got a page cannot be displayed thing.

Chad 04-07-03 05:15 PM

If this post gets through, then I guess it's getting better. It's really a pain to try and post a reply to a thread only to get a "The page cannot be displayed" message.

Today monday March 6 afteernoon it took 12 minutes to get on Publisher too busy try again later. Then got I Got on from a DVD talk e-mail for a subject was on e-mail notification. Then I went to my e-mail typed out my response hit send it wouldn't turn green at all I cut and copied the post hit Cmd + R (reload) hit send again nothing happened.

Back to square one after 6 minutes I hit Cmd + V which put exact post back on hit send WooHoo it turned green then after 4 minutes it went your post has been accepted, then had to wait for another 4 minutes and a lot of hitting my send key it finally responded total 26+ 6 minutes of having to go back to my mail and try to get on yet another time on a monday afternoon total time 32 minutes.

Incase people aren't reading the first page of this thread.... We are currently working on replacing a faulty router which is causing problems. Should be resolved by the end of today

Hey Geoff. The web site is loading really slowly. I'm trying to figure out if it is my computer or your site. Thanks for listening.

;)

Deftones 04-07-03 09:22 PM

When you said a router needed to be fixed, I thought you were talking about me. I went out and bought a new router b/c I thought it was my computer! See this thread: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=284015

Damn you for fixing the problem on your end!

Buford T Pusser 04-07-03 11:38 PM

I've been noticing that it was really slow and sometimes wouldn't load at all. Hope everything's okay now.

GeoffK 04-08-03 12:45 AM

not fixed yet... New router in place but still working on settings to support the traffic.

GeoffK 04-08-03 12:59 PM

The problem now should be resolved. Thank You everyone for your understanding.

This new router should result in a faster load of the site across the board.

WiccanPagan 04-08-03 02:47 PM

 thanks geoff.

Y2K Falcon 04-08-03 04:33 PM

WiccanPagan 04-08-03 06:16 PM

 y2k: hope ya read geoff's posts and are making funny. if not, shame on you. -ohbfrank-
