Missing forum buttons

I just noticed the weirdest thing when I tried to access the DVDtalk forums at home. None of the "new thread", "post reply", "edit" or "post reply" buttons show up on my computer. This happens with both Netscape and IE. When I access the forums at work, everything is OK.

Anybody else notice anything similar?

Do you have an ad-blocker running at home? Try turning it off and see what happens.

In addition, see this thread: http://dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread....hlight=buttons

Thanks for the quick response. Sorry for the duplicate note. I'll check my firewall when I get home.

Why are the buttons on a different server?

They're on the same server as the ads. So, if you're blocking the ads, you're also blocking the buttons.

I know that. I meant why are the buttons on a different server than the normal forum stuff?

I can't figure out how to unblock just the DVDtalk ad server (using Norton Internet Security) without unblocking everybody's ads.

So you can't block the ads, apparently.

Well that's part of it. Actually a side benefit of the move to put the images on the ad server.

We did it mainly to spread out the load so that another server could help bear the immense load of serving images to the forum.
