I would suggest a different Forum name though, so as not to be confused with DVDCoverart.com.

My idea. I'm definitely in. Yes a seperate forum, that way we can have a sticky thread with all the relevant links and how to info. Threads for requests, certain types of movies and such. Make it happen! :) Please.

Me too. Considering how fast we go through the "one-and-only" thread, I think it would be a great idea. It would be a good way to have seperate threads to monitor the progress of things too.

I think if we got this thread up to 10 pages in a week it would be a sure thing. ;)

this topic has generated a LOT of interest as of late, and the threads fill up VERY quickly now. they're also getting a bit messy, and it'll be easier to keep track of things if we have our own forum for this..

I'm all for it. The threads are getting way too big to be managed, some requests often get buried very quickly, especially if they are requested at the end of one thread.

I would love it if custom covers got it's own section of the forum. "DVD Talk Cover Art" sounds great to me.

As much as the current system works, the hobby has become so busy lately- what with the rush to replace lousy studio art, the bevy of new and creative ideas, newcomers to the hobby and the revival of dvdcoverart - that I can't keep up with it.

Staying on top of one topic has become very difficult, and the result is an overloaded mail box and a lot of confusion.

Having a project getting its own thread would be perfect; For example, the "zinemated" Austin Powers (;))covers would be developed and previewed in one thread, while the steady and gorgeous stream of classic sci-fi covers could be showcased in another.

Please consider this option. It would greatly help the covers community.

Put me down for somebody else who would be interested in seeing this in it's own forum. I have a growing interest in this, and keeping up on it with the current thread in the speed that it grows is daunting.

I would love to see a forum for coverart. It is very hard to keep up with the coverart thread, without visiting it a few times a day.

Let's not use the word "custom" as part of the forum name, since there would some that are just straight up scans of current covers too.

I'm curious about the same thing, although as long as the pics are actually hosted elsewhere it shouldn't be a huge issue for dvdtalk.com.... right? (he says hopefully)

I don't see the copyright issue here. We aren't selling anything. We are creating custom covers to make up for the sh*tty ones that are packed in with our dvds. And then we trade em. I think it is a non-issue.

You're posting copyrighted images.

None of the "King Of The Hill" websites were selling anything either. How many KOTH fan sites can you find online now? Why? Because FOX threatened them all with legal action.

POOF! KOTH sites disappear in droves.

You don't have free reign to use copyrighted material for whatever you want


The "loophole" as I see it would be that DVDTalk.com would simply be a common-carrier and not hosting the pictures themselves.

I think if the studios didn't want us to do this they would have spoken by now. Were on page 22 of the "Thread" & dvdcoverart has almost 2000 members now, like I said if it were a problem it would have surfaced by now

DVDTalk does sell advertising on every page though.

Count me in too! It's quite hard finding things in these threads - they go by so fast!!

It would be very practical when it comes to links for templates, logos and fonts needed for custom covers as well. You wouldnt have to search through ambigious threads trying to find the correct link.
