over the top ads?

Geoff, its about 2:30 in the morning my time, i go to click onto DVDtalk.com and am faced with nearly full nudity on the HOMEPAGE! Its an ad for Adultdvdempire.com While I understand that Ad's are your life blood and it is neccessary to run ads of all kinds, i thought you drew the line at nudity, and other such ads. so wahts the deal? this one slip past? ill send you a screen capt.

conkie: IIRC most of the ads shouldn't be that offensive, that is I can't imagine an animated gif of three people humping being a banner. But adult ads exist in the Mature forum and migrate to the main forums when it is late at night and people are browsing for porn while looking at DVD Talk...

I have a problem with the adult dvd ads displayed during the day. I visit this site from work, and worry about coworkers being offended or the content being deemed inappropriate.

Jetflair,

Adult ads are displayed only at night. I don't see a location field on your profile, where are you connecting from?

Couldn't it be possible to have the script detect the time on the user's computer and adjust the ads based on that instead of using pacific time?

Our ad server uses its own time not that of the user, sorry, that's just the way it works. And for the record it's in central time and set with both west and east cost work times in mind

No, but it could use the time zone setting in each user's profile, and default to CST.

The ad server is completely unconnected to the forum software. Nice idea, but technically not do able
