No, not the pop-up, the flash banner.

That thing is damn annoying!

What banner?

I tend to ignore banners unless they have nude women on them :o

by the way. I am ok with things like this since they help keep dvdtalk alive :)

Insomnia?

You must be seeing things. Get some sleep.

OK, this one is often enough to be annoying. It drove me to a popup killer. Do advertisers understand it doesn't pay to really po customers?

Half of the pop-ups load fine. The other half take upwards of a minute to load, during which time my browser is frozen (can't scroll or push the IE buttons). This is the same reason I had to stop reading at EZboard.

Is anyone else having this problem? Any work-arounds? I know this is supposed to stop on 10/23, but for future referecnce, this may be helpful, especially if Geoff has to do this again in the future.

Two suggestions: a pop-up killer will usually close them before they finish loading (the one I use is no longer available but a google search will find many others). But, in my experience, the easy way to deal with pop-ups is to close them from the keyboard as soon as the little window starts to appear. This is done on a "wintel" machine with a [Cntrl-W] command (this command will close windows for many types of programs, not just browsers). On a Mac I believe that it is [Apple-W]. To toggle between windows use [Alt-Tab] on a
wintel machine.

Whether this will work if your computer is locked up with a loading window I don't know. But it is worth a try.

The only catch is that the window doesnt appear while its loading. It locks up the computer, then after a minute, loads normally.

The pop-up that ask if pacino and williams have been in a movie together is wrong. It says that they starred in awakenings together.

Yeah! FU! :p It's for my parents who are stuck in the stone age. I just got them the other day how to open a digital photo I sent them.

Add that to the fact that everytime I ask an AT&T bastard "When can I get Cable modem or DSL?" they either laugh, or say "In like, 2 years" doesn't help either. At work I am in heaven with DSL, home I am in hell.

Go dance with Brett Farve the injury boy!
