Magazine "Deal" Problem...

I paid for that Magazine deal (before Details magazine was added, dammit) and I have yet to receive any magazines. Now what? Did I just throw money away? I don't really care about those magazines... I just think it's false advertising to say the magazines will arrive.

Static Cling 09-05-02 04:33 PM

How long has it been? The magazine website said something about 6-14 weeks before the first issue, I think... if it's been beyond that, I'd look on the website for contact info and ask them what the deal was.

seeyouauntie 09-05-02 07:30 PM

Was it the three magazine deal?

Trigger 09-05-02 07:36 PM

Yeah - it was before they added Details. I got it when the ad first started popping up because I felt like being generous and contributing to this site since I spend so much time here. I don't know how long it has been, but it seems like a hella-long time.

GeoffK 09-05-02 09:07 PM

Most mags take 6-8 weeks to start. It's all about when the magazines 'sticker' their issues.

PGHFlyer 09-06-02 10:59 PM

Yeah, pretty weak they added Details to the deal aftef the fact. I guess I'll have to learn to wait these things out a little better. Still a good deal though....

I agree. I went and donated, and then an extra mag gets added on

Trigger 09-07-02 03:41 AM

I don't even want any of those crap magazines... Any way I can cancel?

Static Cling 09-07-02 09:16 AM

For people that want Details, there is an offer in Hot Deals right now to get a year of Details magazine for free.

Yeah, call the number and you can cancel through the automated process. You will need the credit card you used to sign up with.

Hoonster 09-23-02 01:41 PM

bumping this up to see if anyone has received their issues yet... I've yet to get mine

Trigger 09-24-02 12:17 AM

I still haven't gotten mine. THanks for reminding me. What's the number? I wanna call it and cancel.

GeoffK 09-24-02 01:15 AM

The first deal started less than 8 weeks ago. I put an order in as well and haven't gotten mine yet, so hold tight. I'll follow up with them tommorow and see what the story is

darkessenz 09-30-02 01:29 AM

No issues for me either:(

Trigger 09-30-02 11:01 AM

I still wanna call and cancel. What's the number for their customer service?

kevin75 10-03-02 07:32 AM

i just signed up a few days ago so i know that it's gonna take awhile for mine to start, but i am very interested to see if anyone else gets theirs.

gcribbs 10-03-02 11:48 AM

ok I did mine on Aug 18th.

I figure i will need to wait till the end of october before worrying. when did you all sign up?

http://www.netmagazines.com/contactus.html

they have a 206 number but the top of the page has an 800 number for orders. not sure if you can cancel thru that however.

Trigger 10-03-02 12:55 PM

called and cancelled - rude rude rude. She got all snippy after I said I wanted to cancel and she's like "fine I'll cancel you, thanks bye" click. She hung up before I could say anything. WTF? It's like a one person operation or something. Shady. Legit businesses would give you a confirmation number or some such thing or at least stick with you until they confirm that the order has been cancelled in their system. Plus - I've worked in telemarketing before on both ends (incoming calls and outgoing) and one of the first rules is that you never hang up first... I'll never do business with them again.

glad you got it cancelled since you were not happy with the deal change and time frame.

call or write your credit card company and dispute the charge if you are concerned. that way if the credit does not show up you are protected.

Up to 3+ months to start a mag subscription?? That's unacceptable. Did not realize that. Looking into cancelling also.

Ranger 10-04-02 04:52 PM

Dang, guys, you should call the BBB about this.

darkessenz 10-04-02 05:25 PM

I looked at the charge on my cc; it was 8/01/02. I guess i still have about 6 weeks before i start worrying.

Nevertheless I wish I would have known that they really meant up to 14 weeks. Considering cancelling...

Creek Rat 10-05-02 11:45 PM

The pop up for this deal is back. I think that's pretty crumby considering how bad the service has been since the last time this deal ran. There are people, me included, who are having problem with the last deal.

This vendor has known service issues so why are new ads just now starting to run again?

Static Cling 10-06-02 12:06 AM

In the other thread in Hot Deals about the magazine offer, I believe Geoff said that he was going to have a phone conference on Tuesday with these people and ask them what was up. Hopefully we will hear an update after Tuesday.

Thunderball 10-06-02 01:41 AM

I still say it's shady Static.

This whole situation was "too good to be true"

we were asked to buy a sub to help out DVDTalk, and now we are feeling cheated

netMagazines 10-10-02 01:35 PM

I work for netMagazines (the people who are providing the magazine deals through DVD Talk) and just want to let everyone know that we aren't some evil fly-by-night operation. I completely understand your frustrations as some of you have not received your mags yet, but yet is the operative word.

We have a standard lead time of 6-12 weeks that is dictated by our publishers and is posted on our checkout process. We would be happy to answer any questions that you might have, but please understand that it will take anywhere from 6-12 weeks. We can be reached via e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 1-800-536-0886. Thanks for your patience and support.

-Casey

darkessenz 10-23-02 05:43 PM

bumping- anyone else get their zines?

Static Cling 10-23-02 07:50 PM

I got Maxim & FHM the other day, but I believe I bought them individually, and not through the "Guy's Pack" or whatever.

I sent an e-mail to this person on 10/23 looking for help but I haven't heard anything back. Sound like fly-by-night customer service to me.

darkessenz 10-29-02 06:04 PM

i called their service number during biz hours, and got an answering machine

Ranger 10-29-02 06:21 PM

6-12 weeks is an awfully long time to wait. Being the patient man I am, I get pissed when I don't receive my shipments within 48 hours.

I didn't order any of those magazines, but Maxim is looking good though. :)

darkessenz 11-06-02 01:38 PM

UPDATE- I am having serious misgivings about this magazine deal. I had my credit card charged on the 31st of July- Since then I have recieved no magazines

The websites do not recognize my address, and when I called netzines, they said they didn't have my credit card charge on file. Well this worried me, and the lady there said she would call me back. I know my credit card was charged, I have a copy of the bill both in paper and on my computer

The lady did not call me back, and I have been calling for a week straight. It has no been +12 weeks since I ordered the Guys pack, and I am getting very upset. There is never anyone at the phone number given- I don't know what to do. Any thoughtS?

GeoffK 11-06-02 02:46 PM

I'd call your credit card company and contest the charge.

I sent Netmagazine's an email yesterday telling them that I'm unhappy to see the volume of complaints that have been posted, and that they need to address them asap.

Please accept my applogies for the pain an misery you've gone through. Before presenting any big offer we do check out the companies we work with and nothing indicated that there would be any problems here.

But as I advised, I'd contest the charge. If Netmagazines doesn't have a record but you do then the best bet is to contest it.

vaporware 11-07-02 08:21 AM

I got burned on the Total Movie deal so i decided against trying this magazine deal until i knew people were receiving it. Looks like i made the right choice.

Susan wanted me to let everyone know about the live chat option as well. If anyone has questions, Susan can be reached most days during business hours via the live chat link found on our homepage, www.netmagazines.com.

The best time might be Monday around 1 PM Pacific time, but if this is not convenient for you there are other avenues. Just another option...

Considering the lack of response at your supposed 800 number, I don't think it would be "another" option, rather the ONLY option.

Susan could have called me like she said she was going to...but oh well, credit card disputes r great.
