FYI - Updgraded Forum Software

Upgraded to the latest version of the forum which should address some bugs, but most importantly is supposed to address people's login issues and problems

is this causing the delay in the page to load. I get the top half right away away and about 30 seconds later the forum loads

Is there a reason in particular that you want it back?

Just noticed a new "check message length" link at the bottom of the post form when posting (not with quick reply). Is that part of the upgrade, or have I just not noticed it until now? Either way, it's a nice little addition.

I think it's always been there, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Actually I thought this question was 'asked and answered several times' but here's an expanded version:

We've deactivated the member list function of the site for a number of reasons. First and foremost we're totally at the max for what our current servers (yep we are running on more than one) can handle! So in an effort to cut down the load on the site we've taken down one of the features which does put a descent strain on the server.

Secondly the Member feature was being used for a 'post war' battle between a few members which ended up in creating a bevy of pads and questionable posts on the forum.

Finally, someone who we do business with educated me on how spammers snag e-mail addresses of web sites, our member list could be one big target, and we're always looking at how we can best protect our members privacy and shield them from getting their addresses 'harvested'

I know some of you liked this feature and I'm sorry to see it go.

Thanks for the explanation, Geoff!

When I pointed it out in the other thread 'missing buttons', I only got a basic answer like "We turned it off."
