Missing buttons
Since about last night I've been missing a lot of the buttons on DVDTalk, like the reply to, new thread, folder images, etc. However, the ICQ and Yahoo icons show up. Is there something wrong with my computer or is this something forum wide?
Here's a little snapshot of what I'm talking about:
Notice how there's no e-mail, profile, quote, edit, etc buttons showing up

Looks like you need to turn off your ad-blocker.

Never mind.
Whatever happened, I rebooted my computer and everything seems fine now.
Weird.
BTW, I don't have any ad blockers.

[I have no ad blocking software]
Could there be a proxy/cache situation rearing its head after some changes/moves e.g. I think this gif <IMG SRC="http://ads.kleinman.com/images/newhotfolder.gif"> may have changed today and I was getting a broken icon symbol until I "flushed"....!

Yeah, that was supposed to be a mod secret, man. No one's gonna want to be a mod after they hear about that.
And what was that I heard about Geoff wanting to rename this site www.eunuchtalk.com?

Is there any way to "disable" the "top 10" posters, as well, thats not the info important about the members button. it made a good search tool to find members with similar taste as you.
Looking randomly, I found some guy named NNY, which reccently posted and well, jumped to that thread quickly.
Also, you could track whens the last time a certain member posted. such as looking at keysers name and seeing wheres the last thread he was in. the only factor of the "posting" in the members section was when you clicked on the top ten posters and the such.
Isn't there anyway to take that feature out and still keep members alive?
by the way, May I suggest, since you could just look at post counts in the profiles, that we take off the feature of being able to see Post counts at all.
"Did jackskeleton just suggest the removal of post counts all together?!?!!?!? hell must have frozen over"

Well if there was some way to remove that option in the members section to view the top ten posters, or in our profiles, I would suggest that. as it will once and for all end the whole post count maddness.
Maybe later on we could adopt a new system of member status. or keep the one we have and it just updates as mods and above the line know the post count while everyone else doesn't.

Dancinns,
Did your Missing buttons show up again?
I enabled ads.kleinman.com on Norton Internet Security last night and rebooted. Now I'm getting the ad across the top again, but I'm still missing most of the buttons on DVDTalk, like the reply to, new thread, folder images, etc. The ICQ and Yahoo icons are the only ones that show up.
Thanks.
PS I have a PC using IE browser. At work I use a Mac OS9 with IE (but no Norton Security) and everything looks normal there.

DVDTalk icons are missing when using "Proxomitron":
http://www.proxomitron.info/files/index.html
Icons re-appear when Proxomitron is bypassed.
Something is peculiar about the DVDTalk forum, for this to happen.

The answer is in this thread. I'm not sure what type of response you're hoping to hear.

Proxomitron is "freeware", so you can try it for yourself to better see what I'm talking about. To use it, you need to go into the browser settings, and change the local server proxy settings to "localhost: port 8080".
So, what I'm saying is: The DVDTalk forum's web page coding needs to be corrected, so that the page appears correctly, even when Proxomitron is enabled.
And whether the data source of the icons is "ads.kleinman.com" or any other source, should not be of any significant difference.

But that's the thing. DVD Talk isn't doing anything wrong. You're using inflexible software that's incorrectly identifying post icons and the like as ads.
