i can't seem to stay logged in.

it seems like i have to log in again every time i want to post. is there something that i need to adjust in my browser settings? or is someone trying to tell me something? :hscratch:

Blake 08-24-02 01:35 AM

They're trying to tell you something.

Actually, yesterday, for no apparent reason, I was logged out - just had to log in again. Also, couldn't get the log-in from the Quick Reply box working...

Venom 08-24-02 10:18 AM

i've been getting logged off all the time this week. and yeah, that log in at the quick reply doesn't work, asks you to log in properly then gives a you've followed an invalid link or something.

I just back up to my original quick post and rehit submit and it then works because I am now logged in again.

Broadwayblue are you accepting cookies?? check your settings again. maybe they got changed.

broadwayblue 08-24-02 05:26 PM

what kind of cookies do i need to be able to accept? 1st party, 3rd party, or some other kind?

benedict 08-24-02 05:35 PM

This is an FAQ

From <b>Blade</b>'s thread above this one:

http://dvdtalk.com/forum/misc.php?ac...1#clearcookies

http://dvdtalk.com/forum/member.php?action=logout

Is there still a problem?

broadwayblue 08-24-02 06:09 PM

i cleared the cookies and logged back in. now i'll have to see if i can stay logged in.

Dave99 08-24-02 06:34 PM

I get this fairly often, on both my home machine and work computer. Sometimes I'll stay logged in for a couple of days, sometimes, I go from one forum to another and I get logged out. Annoying, but oh well..

Dave

broadwayblue 08-24-02 08:32 PM

nope...got logged out again. and i didn't even open a new browser window. :(

belboz 08-24-02 08:50 PM

I've been getting this problem as well. Thought it was just me, though, because I'm using Mozilla.

broadwayblue 09-01-02 04:07 AM

does anyone have a suggestion on how i can fix this? having to sign in after every single post is really a PITA! :( i'm considering changing my password to a single character.

Blade 09-01-02 06:05 AM

Have you tried installing the latest version of your browser? Or reinstalling the version you're currently using?

TheTerminator 09-02-02 05:50 AM

Had the problem also with Vbulletin forums. I use Internet Explorer 6 and changed the following settings to stay logged in :D

http://ripprod.web1000.com/help/settings.html

Maybe that could help you (if using IE 6)

broadwayblue 09-02-02 03:27 PM

thanks Schwarzenegger...i just adjusted the settings. i'm hoping it works!

why does dvdtalk hate me? :( the settings didn't take.

on second thought, i may have found a fix. we'll see.

broadwayblue 09-30-02 11:13 AM

does anyone have any new ideas? after studying my situation further it appears that i am not logged out after every post, but rather after a short period of time. nothing i try seems to fix this. :(

broadwayblue 10-07-02 07:24 PM

i'm offering $4.77 now if anyone is interested!

I just tried changing a setting in your user settings.

Let me know if it works.

mautos 10-07-02 10:24 PM

I'm also having a problem with logging in and out.

My best friend, who posts under the profile 'Mautos', moved in with me a month ago. Anyway, we both use the forums and both use the same computer. Now, whenever I hit the 'logout' button beside the 'Logged in user:', it looks as though it's successfully gone through, but when I go back to post, I'm still logged in. So, effectively, for now, I can't post under my profile, and am permanently logged in under my friend's. Using I.E. 5.5.

Let me know if there's any easy remedy to this problem.

Thanks
Kevin, or the artist formerly known as 'Peat'

Did you try the suggestions in the FAQ thread in this forum?
