Java Script error messages
I get these stupid messages all the time. For example, I cannot click on the drop down list when I am at the dvdtalk homepage. I have to click on Forum at the top, THEN I can click on the drop down list. This is the message I always get.
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Error: No such interface supported.
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
This error message prevents me from clicking on certain links. Like right now my problem is I can't fill out my financial aid application online because of buttons that my computer isn't allowing me to click on. Does anyone else have this problem? Can anyone help? What can I do to not receive this message anymore?

I remember trying in the past, but it didn't work. Do you think that will help with java? I really don't even know what java or javascript is.

I'm trying right now, again, to download, Internet Explorer 6, but even as I go through the steps, that error message pops up before I continue to the next page. Maybe that has something to do with it installing unsuccessfully?

Java is a web based computer language that allows your browser to display specially designed web pages, or portions of specially designed web pages. Java script is just the java code for the page you're trying to view. It's usually enabled by default, and it is normally installed on your computer via your web browser.
Use the Open from location option.

It's downloading right now, but not giving me a transfer rate or estimated time left. The little blue bar hasn't appeared yet or started moving across the screen. Is it working, or should I try again?

It's been so long, I can't recall when this "feature" was implemented, but in the current revisions of IE, you can go to Tools / Internet Options / Advanced and uncheck the box that says something like "Display Every Script Error"
That way, when you visit a site run by some 14 year old kid who can't write proper javascript code, you don't get a pop-up message all the time.
I'm not sure if this addresses your particular problem, but it's something to consider if you keep getting those annoying popup boxes.

That's a good idea too das, thanks. Though she does say that it's not just that she's getting error messages, but that it's also preventing her from filling out forms. I think the java part of her browser is screwed up somehow.
SBatL8y,
If you think it's taking too long, you can try downloading it again. I have Roadrunner, so it worked very quickly for me when I tried it just a couple minutes ago.

das Monkey,
The messages aren't what annoy me. It's when I can't click on a link. I have to right click the link, or picture, or whatever, then hit copy, then go up into the address bar and hit paste. That, in it's own, is annoying. But it's more annoying when I hit paste and it gives me a javascript code, which obviously won't take me to the site I'm trying to get to.

Okay, NOW it decides to tell me you have to have Windows 98 or newer, I only have Windows 95. So I guess a newer version of IE isn't possible. Dang it.

It will work with Win 95.

Alright, I installed the bigger one. And it JUST NOW finished. I've restarted my computer, went clicking around on the net, and haven't had that message once! Yay! Thanks for all the help. It's greatly appreciated.

For similar reasons, Netscape 4.5 should probably be an absolute minimum, with Netscape 6 or higher being preferrable.

This is what happens when you don't try to learn how to make your own web page!
Thanks for the corrections!
On the plus side, I did help solve the problem!
