Why was the ticket thread in the Sports forum closed?

I understand classfied ads are not allowed on DVDTalk but aren't most of the threads in the DVD Exchange and Video Game Exchange basically classified ads? Do we have to have a specified area/forum to make it ok?
I could care less either way since I don't use DVDTalk to sell stuff but it just sparked a question that I thoght I would ask.
Thanks

From the <b>Blade</b>'s FAQ, above:
That said, there are or have been "exchange" threads in Music Talk, Book Talk and in the International DVD forum. These were all requested by members and agreed with Geoff beforehand, as I recall.
The idea behind all of these has been that it might address a member need but also keeps any such posts from cluttering the forums and, in the case of International, allows for uniform "rules" to be applied i.e. the same excellent rules as Mao had devised for the main exchange forum.
Clearly there is always going to be a background worry as to whether trades/sales are going to be honored and whether a scam or even a genuine mistake will reflect badly on the board owner - even though the deals are nothing to do with him.
I am only guessing, but this might be even more of a problem with, for example, ticket sales. I remember someone posting a story last year about some problem with an eBay auction and the late appearance of some concert tickets i.e. late as in after the concert had taken place!!!!!
I know that, a month or so back, I locked a thread in Music Talk where someone was wishing to sell some tickets. It didn't stop people reading the message and perhaps emailing the guy - but it kept the actual deal itself from being conducted on the board and setting a precedent.
I have a feeling that the odd sale may slip through on other forums but, until someone asks for and gets agreement for a one-and-only Sports trade thread, then <i>locking</i> would seem to be the way to go....
If you have a problem with something a mod or admin has done, your best course of action is to first email that mod or admin. If you're not sure who to email, email any or all the mods of the forum your question concerns.
