Disappearing posts
Some of my posts have been disappearing. I'll reply to a thread and when I check back on it later, my post is gone. Is this happening to anyone else? It happened in these threads and maybe in a couple of others:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...ghlight=doctor
In the first thread listed above, I even retyped my response and it disappeared again.
Hopefully this thread won't disappear.

As for the quick reply issue, I do use it, but I'm sure that in the cases above I actually made the posts and saw them in thread.

I had posted in the thread that Soup Nazi was suspended over, and when I checked back the next day my post was gone. And I am sure it was there, it was right before Benedict's post where he said he was going to lock the thread, I had returned to the thread and had seen it. Weird.

at times if a Mod thinks a post is just padding or someone is hijacking a thread I think posts are deleted.
I am sure an Admin or Mod could explain the specific reasons it happens.
I know I have lost a post this way.
no biggie however the major issue with this is that no one knows why the specific post disappears so even more posting can happen to find out whyit happened like this thread which is at least the second one I know about in the feedback forum regarding this issue.

If anyone thinks a post has disappeared thy might first like to try a search under their name, approximate date and using a relevant keyword.
Over time I have merged a good number of threads or part threads. I have only actually deleted about one threadcrap/pad a month since last September. In the main, I add something to the title to show that a merger has occurred.
And, if I lock, I usually leave a signed comment in the "offending" post using a distinctive blue italicised font. This avoids bumping a "bad" thread unnecessarily - although I will sometimes do that instead, if I think it is preferable.
Heat, I moved all the general posts from the locked thread over to the permitted general discussion thread so that they could be followed up by any interested parties. (I had archived securely a copy of the thread moments after my post/lock such that it could be viewed in its entirety by mods/admins).
