Smileys
How come every time I go to the smileys page, it tweaks out my whole computer? When you scroll down it just jumbles everything, even my wallpaper on my screen tweaks out. Everything goes crazy and I have to re-start my computer. It's like everything duplicates over and over as a scroll. It's just one page of mess.
Does anyone know why it does this? Or does it happen to anyone else? How do I view the smileys without it doing this?

Just checked it on my pc and don't have a problem.
What browser are you using. Version? Operating system?
Is it just today, or has it been happenning for a while?

I use Internet Explorer 4.0
I'm not sure about the operating system, what does that mean? A PC?

Is there some reason you don't want to upgrade to IE 5.0 or 5.5? Are you using a Mac?
I would try upgrading your browser to the latest version (which is actually 6.0 I think, but I like the 5x versions myself) and see if that helps.
Another thing you could do is try going to http://www.lavasoft.nu and downloading their adaware program. You should probably do this any way, but it's possible there's some ad tracking software that's messing things up (real long shot though, as I would expect you to have this problem with our other forum pages as well.)
I'd try upgrading your browser first though. You can do this by going to www.microsoft.com. Here's a link to the Internet Explorer page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp . If you click on the Related Technologes link on the left side of the page, there are links or operating systems besides Windows (Unix/Mac specifically).
Let us know if that doesn't help.

I take it to be an Explorer problem. If I close and reopen Explorer, next time it is usually OK, not consistent at all.

Thanks guys. I'll see if I can. Of course, this is a work computer, so who knows. As long as it's free
I just hope I can see the smiley page soon, I want to use some of the newer ones, but I can't remember the codes for them.
Thanks again.

Okay, I've now downloaded the updated version 6.0. And I SUPPOSEDLY did it to where it installed as soon as it was done. But it still says I'm using version 4.0. Where did the 6.0 one go that I downloaded? How do I start using it?

When you click on the link to download, a window should pop up asking if you want to save to disc, or open from current location.
Do you remember this, and which one did you pick?
Also, on the download page you got the link from, there should be installations instructions...did you check them to see if they could be of any help?

Ok, after you did that, it should download a file and then you should get a security question dialog asking if you want to install IE 6.0. Once you tell it yes, you should get a license agreement screen that requires you to select the yes option and clicking OK (or something like that) before continuing.
Did you get all that? If not, you may have a third party program that handles your file downloads (like NetZip or GetRight). You need to disable it as it interferes with the download.
Alternatively, you could choose the save to your hard drive option, then find the file and double click on it to start the installation. (It only downloads a small file, the installation program will download the rest off the net once you start it up.)

Okay, so I guess I should download it again and Save it to Disk? Cause I don't remember it asking me for the legal stuff, but I do remember it asking me if I wished to install, and I hit yes. In any event, I'll just download again. Thanks for your help guys. Hopefully this will fix the problem and I can view the Smileys page.
