Within a couple of hours one thread was closed and the troll was banned.

Good job guys. You don't get enough credit for the time you volunteer to the forums.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll post this here -- I think the mods doa a GREAT job, although one thing I'm finding that's really unattractive in the forum lately is the whole "Star Wars vs. LOTR" fanboy nonsense. It seems to be in almost every other thread lately, and it's hardly ever a civil debate. It's "Lucas sucks" or "Jackson's a hack." Coming from the standpoint of (gasp!) actually enjoying BOTH movies while also conceding neither are the cente rof existence, this stuff really gets under my skin. The movie forum has had a good rep for fairly intelligent discussion but the "trolls" or whatever dominating the forum who can't accept other people's opinions have gotten out of hand.

Even threads that are well intentioned end up becoming neverending back and forths. IMHO, I consider this stuff "thread crapping" because you're starting an argument that's never going to be settled and just creates a juvenile environment of "nyah nyah" playground antics. I don't know if this is something that the mods can codify in a new "rule" or not but I just wanted to voice that it's making my enjoyment, at least, of the forum less than it once was.

But seriously, the mods ARE doing a great job!

That's been annoying the piss out of me lately too. That's why I sent the mods several notifications on the posts of this type by Fred G. Sanford. He had posted at least 4 times today with no other purpose than bashing Star Wars/Lucas and praising LOTR/Jackson, including starting a thread that served no other purpose than to say "Star Wars sucks."

That thread was closed, and he was banned. I had an incling that he was a banned member returning (likely ViGiLaNzA/Kim Deal).

At any rate, the Mods handled it quickly and hopefully they'll continue the trend and weed out the LOTR and Star Wars fans that can do nothing than bash the other movie/director.

I am also getting sick of the anti-Star Wars or anti-LOTR that comes up every day it seems. I love both films and would never say one sucks. I'm also happy that my FotR review has gotten as many views as it has...I am absolutely shocked!

I had a suspicion that it was when I notified the mods of the trolling and rude posting. It was of a similar tone, but not quite as blatant. I'd say there was about a 60% chance it was him though, and the posts hadn't got as blatant yet because he'd only been back for a while. When he came back as Kim Deal, it took a couple hundred posts before he revealed his true colors and I sniffed him out to the mods But it doesn't look like X is going to let us know if it was him, another returning banned member, or just banned for doing nothing but trolling in his time here.
