Why did I get booted?
I tried to do a thorough job with my Newcomer thread. I got back from a business trip and found it was replaced by Adboy's thread. It links to mine but has most of the same information so mine really isn't neccessary anymore. Maybe I'm being too sensitive but after 2 years of maintaining that thread, I took allot of pride in that thread and I guess was bothered a little bit that I didn't even get an email letting me know DVDTalk preferred to go with a moderators thread.

as long as we are talking about it
a word of advice for adboy.. I noticed the huge gap you have before the table, in your thread
since its locked, I cant hit quote to look at how you have it setup
but Im assuming that the problem is due to spaces in the html code.. an easy way to fix this is to paste the code into word.. then do a edit..replace and edit out paragraph marks with null..
this will push it all together, and keep from having that huge gap when posted on a ubb board

The "problem" most likely was simply <i>too many stickies</i>. This is something that was discussed here some time ago and I recall that <i>three</i> was regarded as the optimum number.
The debate over particular "solutions" is, of course, a valid one and well-worth continuing.
<b>JimRochester</b>, hopefully one of the moderators from the forum in question will get a reply to you in the coming 24 hours or so: I think there will often be more of a lag over the weekend when dealing with queries.
<small>Did you also use the "Report Post To Moderator" form on the new sticky?</small>

Jim,
I can assure you that no disrespect was intended by this move. As Benedict has already noted, it was a move spured by too many stickies. It was up to 5 or 6 when this was done.
I know that all the Main forum moderators (past and present) are extremely grateful for the content of your thread, and absolutely appreciate all the hard work that we know you've put into it
There's a little more to this, but I'd like to handle it via email. Rest assured, we fully intend to address your concerns.

On other websites, many of the types of topics covered by Jim Rochester in his GREAT thread would be considered official or quasi-official topics for that forum.
As such, those items would be handled officially by the staff (admin/moderators/superusers) and not by the normal users (forum members) of the website.

Since the thread is back in it's rightful place, I don't really see any need to leave this open.
Startide,,
You're right, but since most of the staff here is volunteer, member's volunteering to maintain these types of threads is more than welcome by us.
Closing thread.
