Search Index

Just a FYI. Doing some large scale clean up of our forum search index, so as it rebuilds the index, search results may be sparse. Should be complete sometime late this evening PST.

I figured it was you tinkering. Don't understand why I can't open up Otter threads, though. And I REALLY wanted to see Janet Jackson naked...

While you're in there, maybe you can figure out why a search for "Babylon 5" returns a "not enough letters in 5" error.

To answer the ?, the search engine needs a min number of characters of 3 to search. So single numbers like 5 don't work. It's an aspect of the search which I'm less than crazy about but since it does do a decent job indexing threads and querying them fast I think it's worth the tradeoff

Geoff, the search is not just for "5" but for "Babylon 5".

Doesn't matter. The search index stores individual words, not phrases like "Babylon 5". When it breaks up your search string into individual words for the query, the script conks out on '5' because it's too short. Just search for 'Babylon' and you'll be good to go.

Exactly. Less is more in most searches.
