A question regarding a DVDTalk forum pet peave of mine.

Not that it probably matters to anyone...

But I was looking through the threads on the first few pages and I was wondering...

Do we really need to start a new thread for every single hap-hazzard rumor-mill post from The Digital Bits.

I am pretty sure that most everyone here knows the URL for www.thedigitalbits.com and can look in the rumor-mill for themselves. Besides TDB is not the most reliable source on the web.

Don't get me wrong I think TDB is a great site and I frequent it often but lets save some bandwidth and leave the rumors up to their site.

Just a rant.

Mods, lock if you feel it's necessary.

Not lock-worthy, just Feedback forum worthy.

But to address your post, keep in mind a lot of folks come here to DVD Talk (or a least, we hope they do) for their news, what's going on and to spread any news they might 'find.' So when a site like TDB posts a new rumor, it almost instantly becomes a subject of discussion here.

Which can be good and bad.

I know with the two batches of rumors that have popped up from TDB this week, I've tried to refine them to one thread a piece since these 'announcements' are just purely speculation at this point and the discussion should focus on the rumor and the source, not fact at this point.

When -- and if -- these titles come to fruition, they'll merit their own individual discussions.

So what I guess I'm saying is... 'I hear ya.' I know Todd B. and I do what we can to keep the traffic flowing in the main forum and keep redundancies to a minimum, when possible. But most of the time you have to sit back and let the thread take its course.

TDB is well-known for their rumors. I think we could improve the quality of this forum simply by not allowing posts regarding that b.s. site in the first place! If anyone takes TDB's word for an upcoming release they may wish to search their rumor mill archives for their infamous proclamation that the Indiana Jones Trilogy was coming to DVD for Christmas '99!

Personally I like the threads discussing news/rumors etc., even though the Digital Bits is full of crap. It enables me to get all of my news from the DVD Talk forum, and saves me the hassle of having to look at several DVD news sites. I'm sure many other members use the forum the same way. It's an easy way to keep abreast on release dates, announcements, what extra's dvd's will have, etc, without wasting a ton of time scouring through several other sites.
