Right now, the only method available to change one's username seems to be by Emailing the administration. I don't really understand why. Sure, you don't want people to be renewing their monikers on too regular a basis, but couldn't one install a stipulation in the software that would only permit a name change after a certain time period has elapsed (say 4 months)? That way the playing around would be limited.

I also noticed that there seems to be no way to deregister through the forum directly. This would have been an alternate way to change names, albeit the member would then be starting from scratch.

We prefer to know who is making the name changes. Familiarity with members is part of what we use to judge moderator actions and being able to change your name at will (even if it was only once in awhile-remember we have thousands of members) would make this job more difficult.

We'd also rather that people don't change their names much. Making it such a manual process helps keep the number of requests down.
