Just a thought, but you might want to check your cookie settings. If you can't get it to work, make a new post in the feedback forum with your system specs / browser / browser version / etc. and see if anyone else is having problems.
There's a "browse with cookies" option that you might try tweaking in forum preferences, too.

i have this problem too. i use IE5 medium security setting.

I use IE5 as well, but it's not a security issue; it happens at the lowest setting as well. I'd guess it's an advanced option.

My work PC upgraded itself to IE 5.5 today, and the polls work as advertised. Minor mystery solved I guess.
