About the users logged in feature

I love this feature as it's neat to see if friends will be around when I'm posting. However, I'm also curious as to if it will be used by some people to see when "Mods" are hanging around on the forum.

Do you think it will be a good idea to leave the mods visible so that people know or invisible so that trolls, banned users, and whatnot will be kept guessing?

I don't think this is a huge deal, just something that I thought I'd mention as I've seen Geoff and Bushdog both state that they normally don't like to let users know when they are going to be absent from the board for any length of time.

ps thanks for the great job with everything!

Good point, Right now I'm using it as a tool to measure the impact of people v. load.

I will probably not keep it up after we know this will handle the load.

Yeah, I had already thought of this and made myself invisible.

I will disable it some time mid next week, after I use it to track the load v. traffic of the new forum.

So far, so good.

I actually like the idea for normal users, but do agree that mods shouldn't be included. Is it possible to keep the functionality but just not use it for mods and those who want to remain hidden?

Maybe allow an "opt out" option in your profile for those people who don't want it (mods + others).

I just figured out how to get the forum to list the number of people on the forum without listing all the users. This should be good as we continue to test and if it works could be interesting in the long haul
