Spoiler tags?
Perhaps I am contracting mllefoo's eye affliction, but I no longer see the spoiler tags.
Have they been grandfathered, along with the old software?

The spoiler tags were a custom addition. I'm sure Geoff'll pop 'em back in as soon as he gets a chance.

.... But, as you say, it might mean that people see the spoilers or any other HTML chicanery that people have hidden away there! The same would be true if they followed up a post by quoting, I guess.
For the main part, I suspect that the preview function will be under-used, so the actual impact would be low.
