I must've misread the thread title and your first post....

.... but this was all discussed <i>ad infinitum</i> at the time of the change and there were numerous threads debating it beforehand.

As <b>Venusian</b> hints, some people seemed the think postcounts were somehow important in and of themselves.

I believe it was disabled to keep people from padding.

yeah it was decided that padding was bad for you and hence illegal.

then it was decided that post counts make people pad and hence they are eliminated out of threads.

oh well was fun while it lasted
